I didn't post in this forum for a long time because all my posts between 2006-08 were directly related to my ED, so as part of my recovery I avoided this place. However, now that I am well and can enjoy food in large amounts without negative consequences, here I am back in the Food Porn room. Five pics for you today: Tonight's dinner: Peppers stuffed with a lentil + veg mix flavoured with soy, lime, ginger and garlic, with sweet potato patties on the side.
A dinner I made for my friends last month: "Chicken" bits with onion and herb breadcrumbs (which was served with VWAV sweet potato fries, garlicky kale and Punk Rock Chickpea Gravy).
These are all from my local pub (by local I mean a one minute walk from my flat), which has recently hired a vegan chef, and is now doing about 5 vegan dishes and 2 vegan desserts. They're planning to expand in the near future, and have asked us to spread the word so they get more vegan customers, so we haven't stopped talking about it! Top to bottom: Battered "fish" and chips, "lamb" hotpot and lemon drizzle cake. Just after xmas we had a turkey roast too, but didn't get any pics of that.

Wow! It all looks great. Did you make the 'chicken' yourself? Also which pub is it? I'm in Birmingham every now and then and always on the hunt for something good to eat.

8ball - no the chicken is from H&B, but the breadcrumb coating is homemade (Co-op onion baguettes blenderised, with added nooch, mixed herbs and roasted squash seeds).
It's the British Oak in Stirchley. If you're visiting there you might as well let me know and we'll have a meet up, since I live so bloody close.

Not only do they have all that lush food but they also have about a bazillion different local/homebrewed wines, ales and ciders. The booze is not cheap but the food is - 2 mains + 2 puds for £12. YEEEEEAH.

Sweet potato patties are ridiculously simple. Grate* a sweet potato (serves 2, multiply accordingly to increase) into a bowl, slowly add flour tbsp by tbsp, mixing well til you get a sticky, mouldable mush. Shape into patties, fry for about 1-2mins on each side. Bish bash bosh, done. You can add spices/seasoning/sauce to taste, but I love the taste of sweet potatoes so much I just left them plain. Them totally sweet tatties, brah don't need no enhancing. *or use the grater setting on your food processor, if you're posh. I'm old school and poor, so grated it by hand. It helps that I lift weights.
