I had glass plugs when at 6g and 4g. I think it's a a pretty irrational fear. I think the only way it could possibly break in your ear is if you fell down and hit the side of your head on cement, in which case, broken glass wouldn't be your biggest concern. Even if they drop out of your ear and fall to the ground, they're so light that they probably won't break.

glass hanging pieces are fragile, but glass plugs are pretty tough. I rarely remember to wear o-rings, so i've had a plug or two fall out in the shower, and i've never had a glass one break even then. One time a fake opalite plug (which isn't glass anyway) fell out of my ear onto the sidewalk and it just chipped a little.

I've never had any problems with glass. It's cheap and good for stretching so I used a lot of it on the way to where I am now.

I was thinking of dangles and I went to look at BAF but instead ended up buying some wood items.

I have three pairs of stone plugs- amethyst, green jade, and snowflake obsidian- and they're too big for me. I bought them knowing that. They're 00s, and I'm a 2 right now. I cannot get from 2 to 0! Buh. One day.

I loves wearing glass, and definitely never had close to a break or a chip or anything.
I'm sooooooo ready to go a size up! But the two pairs I own at this size currently are so cute... :/

But the two pairs I own at this size currently are so cute... :/ BAF is having a 30% off sale on Halloween and i'm debating reeeeeeeeeeal hard about getting a pair or two of 1/2 inch plugs and starting to tape. I love so many of my current plugs, but I want to go bigger.

30%?! Did you get an email? is there a code? 30%?! I've been eyeing a pair of pricey earrings that are outrageous but I want.

Also, if I had a lot of $$$ to blow, I would buy these. I know they'd break within six months, so i'd have to buy like three pairs. http://www.bodyartforms.com/productdeta ... ctID=12284

Oh those are awesome and those are the type of earrings I was looking at (mini squids were the ones I was specifically looking at).

I actually have this amazing pair of glass rainbow dichro spirals that I never wear because they're an odd size, I don't know if they're 7/16ths or just a slightly too big 00g. But either way, getting them in my ears is like stretching, and most of my jewelry is 9.5 instead of 10 mm, so most days it doesn't work.

I've got the mini squids in 10g, and they're not as fragile as they look. They feel sturdy, and wearing them I'm not afraid of them breaking or something. :)

BAF has 20% off during the month of december so I've been looking at earrings. I love these but they are so heavy, no way I could wear them: And for those of you with bigger ear holes than I, these are soooo cute.

I love those ladybug ones!
They had a 30% off code for Halloween, so I decided to order a cheap pair of 1/2 inch tunnels to get an idea of how much bigger they are than 00g, and if I decided not to stretch up it wasn't a big waste of money. So I got them and decided, yes, I will stretch my ears again, but I need to build up more plugs and/or wait until i'm not working ay my job anymore.
Then I tore my ear while taking out a DF plug, it was too tightly in there and it was a small tear, but it bled, crusted, scabbed, and as always, shrank majorly. Like I might be able to get a 2g in there if i'm lucky. So I have to re-stretch again. Sadness. My ears are such pissy babies. That's why i'm such a hardass about people stretching the right way, because if your ears are remotely like mine, you need to be reeeeeeeeally careful.
I don't have any single flare 2g plugs to tape and neither does Brian (and I tried 0g and they absolutely won't go in), so right now i'm rocking naked ears, I might as well let the other hole shrink a bit too. On the plus side, every time this happens and I restretch my ears, they get a little thicker, or else going up to 1/2 inch without a scalpel wouldn't even be possible for me.

Last time I tore my ear and it shrank, I got some of those flexible silicone plugs in my normal size and just stuck em in there. It was a little uncomfortable, but they just sort of slowly stretched with my skin.

I ended up ordering these. They had them in black but I think my hair tends to hide dark earrings so I tend to go for silver/metal, lighter woods and such.

I had 9/16" tunnels, which is the size above half-inch, before I started looking for a job.

Do you guys ever get your wee ears sizing themselves down in, like, a matter of minutes? Mine have been at 14mm (9/16 is that?) for since ages, but I've been wearing some (adorable!) wee wooden plugs for ages and when I take 'em out for a shower, by god do they ever not fit back in. It's a bit infuriating.

It's a bit infuriating. I have sets of plugs that are technically the same size by the same manufacturer, but if I wear one set for a long time, the tiny size difference is enough that I have trouble getting the bigger pair in. I have a bit of scar tissue from stretching too fast as a teenager though. If your ears are in good shape, it shouldn't be that fast. I never do this, but you're really supposed to oil wooden plugs (pretty much the only type I wear) occasionally, because they'll dry out. That might help.

are they double flared? I find double flared are always hard to get in, even if I've just taken them out, and the out isn't hard for some reason...
