I am frustrated with all the people in my life who are new years dieting. In part because they won't shut up about it and they are all paleo.

I'm going to break the rules and have some super pureed butternut squash by spoon tomorrow. Surgeon was all "Oh I think in ten days..." but fork it! This is my rebellion.

So, okay, the squash isn't really different from what I'm doing now. But I'll pretend. The day I can have some of that Amy's mac and cheeze will be a beautiful day (ten more days, and I'm counting today).

GCZ, I want to see a before and after shot of yer jaw soon! Twas the surgery I was supposed to have when I was your age and I decided not too, so it's definitely something I'm interested in.

Sure thing! I can tell you now that the biggest differences are 1. my teeth all touch now. Before, the top and bottom front teeth didn't touch at all (I had a perfect bite when I was a kid so who knows what happened). It was very obvious if I were to smile. And 2. my chin is smaller/ shorter. This was kind of a bonus.

There might be other differences but it's too early to tell and I will be happy to take after pics once the last of the swelling goes down! I have plenty of befores for contrast.

How to solve all your physics problems in 5 easy steps:

1) stare blankly at page
2) start to think you might know how to start problem 1
3) oh wait never mind.
4) give up and go for a run
5) go back to staring blankly at page (but feel way better about it)

I am home alone in my new house that doesn't at all feel like home yet and I already HATE being home alone so I'm totally scared. And of course I found the back door unlocked.
And I have no Internet to console my woes with television. Just the 3G on my phone.

Me too! It's pretty cool. Especially when eating a sandwich. ;)

I just realized I'm going to have to find a new cat-sitter. It used to be my ex's mom. I don't trust anyone. Sigh and ugh.

Roommate stuff had been going pretty well lately, until last night. I've asked him multiple occasions not to put his feet on our animals. He won't kick them violently, but he'll shove them away with his feet, or sometimes just stick his foot out when they're walking by, for who forking knows why. One of our cats is kind of spazzy and scared of people anyway, and she won't even come around when he's here lately. It's really been an issue that's bothering us, and my husband swore he'd say something next time he saw roommate do it. So last night, he shoves Toby (our border collie), because he's watching him eat, from like two feet away. Not barking, not jumping, just watching. And my husband snaps, and says very sternly, "I never want to see you kick one our animals again." It takes a lot to make him angry, so this is a big thing. Roommate straight up says "I didn't kick him" and husband says "That's forking bullshiitake." A few more loud angry back-and-forths, and our roommate basically ends up saying that Toby "shouldn't be watching him eat."

I thought when we worked out our food stuff that we might actually make this work and renew the lease in May, but I just don't see that happening anymore. Brain explosion.

creep, your roommate sounds forking terrible. I'm sorry.

missdelaney, it will feel like home soon! The internet is lovely for distractions, I was lucky enough to be able to ...borrow my neighbor's when I moved.

As for me? I'm exhausted! Figuring out a new routine with the new job has been kind of...difficult. Most of it has to do with the fact that Rowdy is recovering from surgery, so I'm spending every moment that I'm not working over at my ex's house with him (Rowdy, not my ex). Not that I don't love spending all this time with him, because I definitely do, but I need an evening at my apartment to clean and do laundry and cook myself some dinner and maybe...maybe...get some sleep.

Creep, your roommate is really mean. Who does that to an innocent animal? For just watching him eat? Sounds like he is passive-aggressively taking out his frustrations with you on your animals.

Good for your partner standing up to him!

And happy recovery to Rowdy and you should definitely make sure to take care of yourself too, AllularP!

I sliced my left pointer finger at the very tip at work yesterday. It bled a LOT but I resisted everyone's suggestion to get a stitch. Now it's stopped bleeding but it is so sore that I can't type with it. I tend to cut myself all the time and always resist my boyfriend's urgings to get stitches, but I think in this case he was right. But it seems dumb to go now, right? I mean, it'll heal itself.

Also, my coworker bought me an assortment of bandaids and a bag of chips. Best day ever.

uggggh you guys, i read some of the comments on the NYT article "how to go vegan" and just got super bummed out. I usually don't give a shiitake what other people think of my diet, but I don't get why veganism makes some people so angry. i don't give anyone shiitake about their diet, why are people so mean!?

I mean, I get it. people on the internet are just crassholes. it just gets me down sometimes.

you'll be fine. but it'll hurt for a few days for sure. just keep it well sealed up, and i'd put some sort of waterproofing on it too. I cut off my fingertip once (luckily i just missed the boney part), and they sewed it back on ... but after a month or so it fell off. Still they said it was the best thing to do to help it heal. But anyway, you'll be fine. Sorry that happened.

Whenever I hear mention of the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, I can't not think about the "other" version about a princess who could pee through a hundred mattresses.

yeah, anger issues much, lady? Though what got me to stop reading was the blatant personal prejudice and the whole lack of standards in internet journalism. I mean, don't these writers want to be proud of what they put out for the public to read? Or maybe they all use fake names so they don't feel the need to own what they write?

The new Kashi cereal... Simply Maize, I think it's called, is a-maize-ing! Hahahah, oh, I kill me.

It has kind of a corn poppy flavor to it and the flakes are a little puffy, so it's not just like regular ol' corn flakes.

The books I can respect, but the whole it's all the vegans fault is lame. Why not go after um, some other group that would eat Quinoa. Like those damn human sacrificing Incas.

Ooh, there's huge big asparagus dead tree outside that's gonna fall with all this wind and rain. I'm waiting to see if it falls and hits the neighbors house. Yikes!
