Yes, I thought it was a bit too late to comment, but Lavawitch, it seems so unkind to punish yourself for a bad meal by forcing yourself not to eat. At least have a tofurkey or PB&J sandwich!

I will say that I have wasted ingredients trying to salvage a kitchen disaster. So now, if something tastes horrible, I don't even try unless its an easy fix. Also, I am bitter about throwing out all the So Delicious Egg Nog that tasted like butt. I was tempted to try and salvage it in cupcakes, but if I had had to taste that metallic aftertaste in my cupcakes, I just wouldn't be able to eat those

Ha, same! I love the smell of veggie bouillon and I am a soy sauce fiend.

It is beautiful outside today. Not only am I still sick, but I have to work all day. I'm off tomorrow and Monday, but I have been feeling so bad about not seeing my friends (because I've been so busy) that I scheduled three hangouts over those two days. Plus I need to clean and do laundry, and I'm cooking dinner for one set of the friends tomorrow evening... And I'm just feeling a little stressed! It will all get done. It will be more fun than I am anticipating. I just want to lay on my couch for 5 hours and read and watch movies, but this will be better. Right?

Also, I've successfully gone over three days without texting my crushy soccer coach turned jerk face. I really don't understand how one goes from texting me every day and wanting to hang out and telling me that he likes me to completely acting as if he doesn't want to talk to me, practically overnight. I just kind of wish I knew what happened. I also wish I had someone to make out with, because this complete lack of physical contact is making me kind of...bummed.

We bought Tofurky sausage for the first time in a while. It kind of tastes like balls after eating Field Roast.

Minus the onions (I can't handle raw onion, but I bet they'd be good fried!), that sounds really delicious. I love a good mash sammich.

forkers still aren't here. Even if they turn up within the next 5 minutes, I'll still be here until 6. If I end up being stuck here for an entire working day (7 hours), I'm claiming that shiitake back. It's bad enough that I had to come in on a Saturday, but this will eat up my Saturday evening. Even if I had sat here doing absolutely nothing (which I haven't - I got so bored I did some work), I should still get my time back.

I'm not trying to punish myself. It's more trying to make myself eat the meal instead of being a whiny baby about not liking something. I ate half my lime burrito and ended up not starving. I ate a piece of toast later.

I've also just started Weight Watchers again so I'm also trying to rest my hunger gauge and not just eat when I think I'm hungry instead of when Im hungry. So I am tracking to make sure I'm eating properly.

It is pure evil in a jar.

I like making Marmite and sweet potato stew.

Had myself a bowl of Farina for breakfast with maple syrup, cinnamon, and soymilk and it was so forking good. It was so easy to eat I might just have variations of Farina all day.

Ugh, totally wiped out on my bike from the ice. It's so frakkin slippery out. It was a pretty controlled fall luckily, only part of me that hit the ground was my hip, and the bike's fine too.

The ex-landlords called this morning to do the final walk through. Vyapti went and I am glad, I would have been furious.

They wanted to do the final walk through after they had done some work, so not exactly our final. They tore up the carpet and tried to charge us for it. They are trying to charge us for the mold on the ceiling of the room they would not ventilate. And so on. Vyapti reminded them that we are filing complaints for the illegal rent change and hopefully that will get them to back off.

Wait until they find the holes in the roof they refused to fix.

Cutest story! Friends of ours have a 3 year old. Her parents are really rad so she's such a joyous, talkative, creative, imaginative little girl. We ran into them in the park last week, and Iris said she wants to come to our house, and bring her pet fish for a play date, and she wants me to make her a gingerbread house, and she'll bring the tea.

We ran into them at the farmer's market today (she was chowing down on CURRY! What an adorable child) and her parents said that she's been talking about us all week. Apparently she told them we are her kid's cousins and we live in a silver house in NYC.

Today she asked her parents and us if she can come over to our for gingerbread men, and can we please give her hot chocolate, "or maybe just hot cocoa is okay, too". She still wants to bring her pet fish to play with the cats, but I hope we can talk her out of that.

Hrmph. Everything I do to make my bad food edible backfires.

Well, maybe a few days of crappy food will help me get over the insane munches I've had lately. I'm hardly likely to overheat on this.

This is why I need recipes that hold my hand and pat me on the head. Who the hell screws up roasted butternut squash?!

And it's equally convincing me I would probably hate it.

This is totally me. Recipes will be like "prepare the quinoa as usual" and I am all "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS OH GOD OH GOD" and then my kitchen melts.

Now I know why I keep making the same few things over and over again. I am afraid of food failure. There - I said it. And DC. I agree - how does anyone USUALLY make quinoa? Is it supposed to taste like grainy torn up cinderblocks or what?

It is, along with kale, among the world's most overrated foods. Anything quinoa can do, something cheaper can do better.

Gulliver, for some reason your new icon is really throwing me off! I keep thinking you're someone new to the boards.

It's windy and grey outside and I'mma get cooking so I can stock the freezer.

I like a schmear of Marmite scraped thinly over EB-buttered toast with thin slices of avocado over top. This used to be my favorite toasty thing but then I started to enjoy Chloe's avocado toast and my marmite jar is collecting dust.

FML. I don't know how I do it but I ended up with a neighbour calling around this evening for a cup of tea. I barely know her. She turned up and my house was a complete and utter disaster zone. She is just desperate to be out of home though. Her husband is an utter crasshole and is abusive towards her.

Just tested out my new bite by biting into a cracker. A really soggy cracker. But it was awesome!

It's so gorgeous outside! I had an awesome yoga/meditation class this morning and a nice walk in the beautiful sun.
If I could just clean my house...

Guys I just got some of the new earth balance "white cheddar" popcorn. It doesn't taste exactly like I remember Smartfood tasting but holy hell is it ever dangerous.

I'm freaking out because both the mom from Six Feet Under and the All State guy are in "Queen". I have a weird crush on Frances Conroy.
