1305 se 8th https://www.facebook.com/WhiteOwlSocialClubso much buzz! opened by the Sizzle Pie folks in the old Plan B location fun stuff: hosting a vegan Valentine's day 4- course dinner and has a bunch of interesting vegan menu items like BBQ jackfruit, housemade veggie burger, battered pickle chips, potato skin things and baked beans, - and the Sizzle Pie vegan ranch. The vegan hangover brunch sandwich (hash brown, field roast slab, misonaise and daiya on a bun) was ridiculous and tasty in a Tube Nanotear way, but a step in a better direction. I think. Strawberryrock, Julialegume and I went for brunch and drinks yesterday and I'm so curious to try more.

Can this just be a thread where the three of us reflect on the meal we had yesterday?

I've been twice now! It's really close to our house. The first time I got the Supergrain Salad, which was only okay. It was very small and bland. We shared some Potato Boots, which were really good. I also liked the bite of Alex's jackfruit sandwich that I stole. We also went for the $5 breakfast sandwiches, which were good, but I doubt I'll go very often unless they add more brunch items to the menu.

We went at noon on Saturday and it wasn't particularly crowded.

Wait, what the fizzle happened to Plan B?? :( Man, sad to hear that, but clearly I haven't been going out that much. Will have to check this out, thanks for the heads-up!
ETA: Nevermind, was thinking of B-Side, I knew about this, haha. Glad it's up and running, will check it out!

I wanted to report back that I'm digging the jalapeno soy curls but probably wouldn't get the potato boots again. The fries, however, are shoestring, and so dang good and crispy.

The jalapeno soy curls on my salad were flavorless! Maybe it was an opening-week fluke.

Here's what you do: fill one potato boot with fries, then put the other potato skin on top and eat it like a sandwich.

Salads (that seem creative and interesting), baked beans with soy curls, a soup I think, the stuffed potato skins...so not a HUGE amount but some good stuff. The menu isn't huge in the first place. I'm pretty sure they offer gluten-free buns that aren't vegan so that's a downer.

How are the drinks? Strawberryrock and I want to go with you some time! (and everyone who wants to go and we'll try and drag Jeff) I feel like the drinks might even be better than the food? There's a way bigger drink list and microbrew offering than most other bar/restaurant type places I tend to go to. Seriously, there are like 3 different menus to begin with.

My "behind the times" (which is basically an old-fashioned) was not that great, honestly. But I am curious about the rest of the cocktail menu.

I was into their version of a sazerac or whatever it was. It was super sweet though.

I'm here now! I was here for the $5 breakfast sandwich over the weekend and am here drinking now. I'm finding the food to be hit and miss. Salad was awesome. Potato boots, not as great.
