Is it Secret Aardvark brand hot sauce? That shiitake is good! Yeah, that's it! We've almost polished off the bottle in 2 weeks. Looks like I'm going to have to order some more!

I think I might be the only person that doesn't like the chickpea picatta! It made me discover that I hate capers, and it reaffirmed that I'm just really not a big whole-chickpea fan, unless the chickpeas have been cooked in something for so long that they've lost their chickpea-y taste.
I made the potato and spinach curry this week though and loved it!

I love chickpeas, but I don't really like capers either, so you're not alone! ;)

Capers are a really strong flavor. I had them on a pizza the very first time a few years before I went vegan and thought they were awful, but now they've grown on me, and I love the chickpea picatta. Give em another chance sometime!

I love them- I do think they're a bit like olives in that they're kind of an acquired taste. I always found it a little odd when the little French kiddies (3 + 8) I au-paired in Paris would pop them in their mouths straight out the jar when we were making pizza, and then sprinkle them liberally all over the pizza...

I made the Arabian Lentil soup with TJ's Harvest Grains not rice so it would cook quicker and it was AMAZING. Served with a grilled Teese for dipping NOM!

Boyfriend used to hate them so I would halve the amount and chop them so you didn't get big caper bits, and now they've grown on him so I can use the full amount. Try easing yourself in!

I cannot wrap my head around capers. Like, what are they all about? Isa's recipes are so heavy on them. The only one I ever tried was the sauce for the Chesapeake Tempeh Cakes from Vegan Brunch, and I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'll have the courage to try again someday. I know I'm missing out! Capers and fennel, the only things I cannot stomach.

Well, I found out that a good friend of mine that's also vegan loves capers, so I passed on the rest of the chickpea piccata and the jar of capers I'd bought to make it to her. No waste, and she loved it!

I like capers! They just taste pickley to me.
I was thisclose to ordering takeout yesterday and then realized I had all the stuff for the Arabian lentil soup. SO glad I made that instead of ordering crappy lo mein from the chinese place.

I'm okay with capers...not in love with them but I can stomach them. Fennel, on the other hand, is totally gross. Both fennel seed and fennel bulb taste like nasty black licorice to me.

I was at a reception once, and there was a bowl of little greenish brown things that I thought were French lentils. I took two big scoops since they were one of the only vegan-friendly things. I sat down, and put a heaping spoonful in my mouth. They were capers. I passionately hate all things briney. It was unfortunate.

I'm echoing an old refrain here, but holy moly that Arabian Lentil soup!! I am not a soup person and I really dug it.

My sister made us the the black beans in red velvet mole for dinner and it was good. We had it with mashed sweet potatoes which probably wasn't the best side, next time I would probably use it as a filling for burritos or something like that but would definitely make again.

I just made the curry laksa and it reminded me how much I loathe cooking with rice noodles... I figured since my SO won't be home until a couple hours I'd just add the noodles into the soup pot so they don't turn into a gluey mess. Well, now they're a mushy textureless mess.
The flavor is ok, though I did have to add a bit more coconut milk and my lime didn't yield that much juice. I've made something very similar before but with potatoes, regular coconut milk and a lot of turmeric, and do prefer it to this AFR recipe.

Oh, Arabian Lentil over kale! That sounds amazing.
I made the Buffalo Tempeh for the first time. YUM. With baked sweet potato and roasted parsnips and brussel sprouts, I was a happy woman.

Have I professed my love for the Arabian lentil soup in this thread yet? Because I do. I love it.
