$4 a jar is totes a good deal. I get a crazy good deal in my 'hood $6 for 32oz, but that's generally unheard of.

I'm just used to thinking all the things in America being cheaper and awesomer than some random shop here. I didn't mean to knock zwingtip's bulk-buying brilliance!

Is mango supposed to taste like parsnip? And is it usually so stringy?

Find yourself an ataulfo mango. They aren't stringy, and when they are ripe, they are great. There's also a time of year when California mangoes are delicious, but it's been too long since I was a produce manager for me to remember when that is. Like avocados, it's often difficult to gage a mango's ripeness. Especially when they have been imported.

My dad always gets the best mangoes. I think it's like super Jamaican mango intuition or something. The ones sold at the grocery store I work at are flavorless and stringy and have very little fruit at all.

I wish I had such intuition. I'd also like a similar avocado intuition. They're the hardest fruits to intuit.

I say a ripe, sweet, perfect mango is better than a cherry, even. And sweet cherries are my favorite fruit EVAR. The only thing that can beat them is a proper mango.

My mom doesn't have avocado intuition because she bought me a spoiled avocado. I've never had a spoiled one before! It smelled... interesting. It looked and felt fine so I had to just trust my nose and toss it out, which made me sad, because I forking love avocado.

My dad used to eat avocados straight up, slices off pieces as he went, like he eats his mangoes. I remember being little and asking him what it was and he was like "It's fruit" and offered me a piece. There I was thinking it was like a mango and I end up with the plant version of butter in my mouth. Did not want at the time.
