I don't enjoy my job and am looking for a way out. A colleague forwarded me an interesting looking vacancy at SOCA for a good wage but as the investigators there can sometimes have temporary privileges above their post, such as constable level access or performing surveillance, Mr8 has gotten his conspiracy theory head on and put a downer on it.

I was told today that it's unbelievable that my car hasn't caught fire yet since the wiring inside was fried but still live. So that'll be at least a grand right before we move and take lower paying jobs.

Yarmgh, doing my bosses job has stressed me out so much, I've had a migraine for two days solid now! Argh! I just get deluged as soon as I log on to work so I dread it. And I get to work from home so at least atmosphereically it's easier and away from the stress and actual people breathing down my neck. The stress just comes in bytes, through the computer. (I think you'd call it bytes? Anyway, it's taking big bites out of me and exhausting me so I'm sticking with that.) Thank God today's my last day at it.

oh lutin, i'm so sorry. my mom went to visit my gram today and she has moved past the general alzheimer's confusion and language disturbance to almost complete loss of language. She's mobile but can't communicate. Mom was going to try to skype but Gram was so confused about what everything was, and so disturbed about being confused, that she didn't want to upset her more. I talked to her on the phone on Christmas and it sounds like she's gotten much worse. I hadn't realized there was worse to get. It's so tragic to see an entire, critically important part of a person just gone, and what's left is so incomplete. And there's basically nothing that can be done about it.

Oh no Mars! Stupid money and its disappearing.
I just found out that I have a lot more work on my plate. I'm in Montessori elementary teacher training and now we are developing our history lessons- and the rest of my cohort is collaborating to create a timeline/stories etc. for American history. They have a lot of support from the staff, pre-made materials (IE: charts, timelines, etc) and have clear guidelines on what they are supposed to do. Well, the other Canadian and I have no support/guidelines or pre-made materials and have to start from square one. It's going to be a lot of work. Also, we don't have a lot of time to do all of it.
I am already behind, and I was able to get deferrals for my own work.....but i I defer this that leaves my classmate having to do all that work herself, as she already has a job lined up for the fall. I don't want to let her or her future students down.
And my Portland bestie needs "space" from me. I have a hard time trusting that folks actually care about me...and I am always paranoid that I've hurt or offended them. So that results in me constantly checking in with my friend, asking if she's ok and asking if she's upset with me. I know it's a horrible, unhealthy thing to do.....but my social anxiety is so high and the only way I feel I can relieve that is by knowing how others feel in relation to me.
I just....I care so much about people and I just want to trust that the relationship is stable enough that it won't suddenly fall apart. I know that speaks really poorly on my perception of others and I feel really guilty for that....
I have a therapist....and I do have people who I can have these chats with.....but a lot of the folks who I've known for a long time and trust also know about some of my......"less than healthy" ways of coping with intense emotion. They tend to jump to the worst conclusion.
So yeah....it's a lonely place right now.

Hugs to all in this thread. Yes, we need to get the insomnia thread back up.
In other news, it is -48 C at 7am and I'm dressing for work. It took me an hour to find my thermal snow pants. And messages are already flowing into my phone regarding telecommunications issues at work because of the cold. Not only is today going to be a s*h*i*t storm, it is going to be a freezing s*h*i*t storm.

.... Are there any links to Montessori teacher training establishments in Canada? Maybe you could contact some places, explain the situation and see if they have any material you can use?

I was not super clever and forgot to turn off the lights on my car. My battery is dead and I had to leave my car and a back seat full of work across town. Grumpy Grumpy Grumpy.
The freezing rain is slowing my process to go get it.

Sadly, we don't have any Montessori elementary teacher training centers in Canada.

Regular Canadian elementary teachers would still have history things.

I was disappointed that it became totally clear today that I won't participate in a business with a certain person.
Though I'm also quite happy that I got out now instead of getting burned in the future, I'm a bit bitter about how it went. Probably also because I didn't have the guts to tell the person straight up that my trust in the business or person slowly diminished to the point that I didn't want to get involved any more.

Came home to find our mailbox and post smashed in half by an apparent hit and run, then as I'm making dinner tonight I walk into the mudroom in which the pine floors were just refinished last Friday only to see giant gouges in the floor from our dog sitter playing with the dogs in the room during her visit today...$1k, completely wasted. Fork me.

This is going to sound incredibly self-centered and ungrateful, but here we go. I just finished clerking for a judge in Australia (here we call it being a Judge's Associate). I got a job with another judge as an associate (it was literally the only job I got offered - and I only got offered it last Wednesday and I finished with judge number 1 last Friday). So..... of course today I get a call from a firm that I'm DYING to work for, but of course, now I'm stuck for at least 6 months in this other job. And there's NO law jobs at the moment. What if I never get a real job as a lawyer? What the hell will I do with myself? See? Self-centered....

Awesome that you were offered the job (both jobs) koalat. Is there any chance that you can join the jaw firm in 6 months when your judge's associate position is up?
(My worst thing is my neighbor's shiitake music selection. I really wish the walls in my building offered better sound insulation.)
