Hi all. I'm going to an event there next week and have never been before, or anywhere near it. Is there any chance there'll be anything to eat for me either in the venue or around it? I'll probably take something, but just wondered if anyone here had been?

CiscoLive?

I don't remember finding anything when I was there this time last year.

Are you staying in London or just down for the day?

Bring a sandwich.

I was out there for two days over a weekend for a volunteering thing and catered my lunch from the small Tesco.

No, it's BETT. It's been at Olympia before but it's moved venue this year. Just going for the day, this time.

I unfortunately have to work at excel a couple of times this year. You can usually find the bugsy sandwich and a vegan salad in one of the little cafes in the middle of the boulevard, but they are REALLY overpriced. One of the little newsagent type shops has vegan flapjacks (and the usual crisps etc).

There's Costas for coffee but i'm not sure if there's much else vegan in the little concessions. I tend to take my own lunch, as I struggle otherwise.

Ah, I've not been to BETT for a few years. I'm at Excel next Thursday for CiscoLive, then probably staying over in London till Friday.

Reviving this thread because Destination Star Trek is at the Excel centre in October. Has anything changed since last January?

I'm going next week for the Grand Designs show, I'll keep an eye out and report back.

I did a blog post about excel. It's doable, I'll have to find it!

I had a good peer at food options, and it's pretty bad! The only place that seemed hopeful was La Barrique - http://www.labarrique.co.uk/ - a friendly member of staff spoke to me while I was peering at the menu and when I explained why I was looking she told me the pizza bases are dairy free and that they can prepare a few vegan options even though there's nothing specific on the menu.

I'd love to see your post if possible, baps. I'm going to an ATP festival thing there in August and I'm not looking forward to a couple of days with slim food pickings. No food makes me sad.

Here it is. http://alienontoast.blogspot.co.uk/2013 ... n-fog.html

There's not a right lot of stuff in excel itself (and it's overpriced). But there is a tesco and a whistlestop shop a short walk from the west entrance (which is the custom house tube side of excel - by the halls S & N1.) I've mentioned this in the post as well though.

edit: that post is from september last year so I'm not sure if anything's changed much but hopefully it'll be of some use. x

Thanks! Definitely informative. I like those Delphi pots of things, so they'll certainly do in a pinch.

i went to an ATP thing at Alexandra Palace in 2011 and they had some food vendors with vegan options set up outside. maybe they'll have some at Excel this year? they also had an all-vegetarian food truck at the Camber Sands festivals i went to in 2012 & 2013, so it seems pretty likely to me that there'll be something vegan-friendly.

I hope so! I've never been to the ExCel and I wasn't sure if they will get to have their own food vendors or if it's AGAINST THE RULES. Maybe I will email them!
