We call our cat (whose real name is Jane) Potato all the time. Sometimes we call her Tater. Or Slugbus.

Wait... do some cats only have one name?

Someone once brought a cat named Air Conditioner into the vet clinic I worked at

Was there a reason behind that? Maybe the cat was found in an air conditioner?

Our vet really wants to name a cat Waffle Toes, which I am all in favor of.

My dog's name is Lily but she also goes by Chicken, Dogbutt, Chickenbutt, and Puppyface. My sister had a dog named Beanie who went by Rambo.

I think we were all too confused to ask! I did ask about the boston terrier puppy named cooter and the guy was like "its from dukes of hazzard, duh!" And I said ooooookay!
I think potato is a great name!

My dad thinks Molly's name is "Ow!"

My mom thinks her name is "why did you do that?"

Molly thinks her name is "sweet baby"

We had a cat named Pancake, and we have one named Baby ButtButt. We aren't good at names.

I suggested "Sir Lynxalot Fuzzy Pants Potato" and my mom said she's not going to listen to any more of my suggestions tonight. Party pooper!

I am starting to think that there are not enough hours in a day for me to grade all my finals.

I have spent 8 hours on them today and I have only graded 23. Out of roughly 150.

THIS IS NOT GOOD.

Grades are due Monday.

My mother has, over the years, named cats Mrs kitten, Baby kitten, Kitty, Kitten, Baby Kit and Baby Kit Junior. BKJ is now Virginia, which developed from Vir-junior. Can you spot a theme?

A cat name Air Conditioner is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. At least it is right now. I love weird, weird people. And their cats.

So I am drinking black water. Like, water that is ink black in colour. It is supposed to have like 77 minerals in it or something but I just bought it because I was fascinated. It creeps me out to take a big sip but if I close my eyes it's just water. http://www.blackwaterdrink.com/products ... ter-drink/

Why does it take so long to grade them?

I don't write comments on test papers, ever. I highlight parts that need discussed and then talk to the kids one on one. Everybody just throws their papers away, unread, otherwise.

Do you have a grading rubric that you can go down and check off for each paper?

There has to be a way to speed it up so you aren't spending your life grading!

I'm trying to be a good PPKer, but I really want to talk about the wet charm of my holidays! Are they only in Kerala? Can't I find wet charm elsewhere? Or at least moist amusement?

Agreed!

The ladies at the desk at my vet's office always smile when they have to say my cat's names. Lucky for them, I left the 'Killa' off for them at the end of Ghostface, so they don't have to say that bit. But they love saying Bill Murray. I can just tell it brightens their day.

I normally do a rubric with minimal comments, but this is a huuuge project. There are several essays in it, reflections, and short pieces. Some of the essay work includes multiple drafts. So, first off, just reading it is time consuming. Then what I'm doing to give feedback is typing up my comments to each student--a short blurb on each piece and its strengths and weaknesses and goals for the second semester. I've been slowly speeding up as I get the hang of this, and I type REALLY quickly, so this is actually much more efficient than writing comments by hand. It just takes a lot of time, and my principal refused to let me excuse my kids from their exam blocks (they handed in the portfolio on Tuesday and then exams are Wednesday through Friday) so instead of using those 4.5 hour blocks to grade, I'm wrangling hyperactive students, so by the time I get to sit down and start reading and commenting, I'm already burnt out. And my principal yelled at me for even wanting to excuse them. Like I got in major trouble. This school continuously tries to make me doing my job well harder and it is so frustrating.

BLARGH. Okay, time to make my oatmeal and buckle down to more grading. First half of today is exams for my prep period, which means I don't have students. Huzzah!

My stomach hurts and I have a nasty taste in my mouth and I think it's Tesco Free From vegan cheese. The mild one was edible but waxy, the medium one was worse, but I gave it another chance and I regret it. Does anyone know if they're related to Sheese? It has the same sharp sour aftertaste.

EDIT: I googled it using different search terms and it's horrible nasty sour-tasting waxy cacky Sheese in disguise. Bleurghy bleurghy yucky bleurghy eurgh.

My poor doggie has a bad cough, and the vet can't see him until tomorrow. Luckily, I have the day off so I can hang out at home with him, but it's sad to listen to him hacking away. It gets worse when he's active too, so no real walks for him today. Bah.

I had a dream that I was visiting a vegan store called Craven (because the owner loved both crows and ravens) and there was shredded Vegusto cheese (is shredded Vegusto even a thing?) for 3 bucks for a smallish bag and 13 bucks for a really, really big bag. And they made their own seasoned tofu, one such flavor being morning sausage.

I tried Sheese when I first went vegan (over five years ago) and it's still the worst gustatory experience I've had.

I ate sooo many delicious brussel sprouts for lunch, I am still feeling slightly sick (it's past 6pm). I think I'm going to skip dinner... and I was doing so well! The past two weeks I have been eating really according to plan. But alas, I couldn't resist the brussel sprouts and piled my plate.
I think this is a first in the history of dieting: fails because of brussel sprouts.

I freaking love Sheese. Except for the smoked cheddar one, I thought that tasted like pure bile. I even recognize that it's kind of weird but it still remains one of my favourite cheeses.

I have to get a urine sample from my dog. Which means I have to follow her around the yard with some kind of tray, and then as soon as she squats to pee, I have to shove the tray under her without her noticing. Because if she does notice, she is like "what the hell?!" and stops peeing. Dogs are a pain in the butt.
