So, I am cooking for 'difficult' omni's this weekend and dessert is usually my fail safe area of ass-kicking. But my kitchen has blown a fuse, and I can't get it fixed in time - so I have no oven, and no fridge or freezer. What can I make??? I still have a working stove/hob, but that is pretty much it.
Ideas? It's cold in my kitchen, so I think a mousse-like pie filling stands a fair chance of setting, but I can't risk a bad dessert with these people.
Help please!! Thanks in advance.

Can you buy some icecream just beforehand and keep it in an insulated bag or something? It would go well with some kind of fritter - apple or pineapple, with icecream. Oh, or in a similar vein, you could make churros with a chocolate dipping sauce. Who doesn't like fried dough?

Maybe you can make Isa's pudding pie with a no-bake crust? http://www.theppk.com/2011/09/old-fashi ... dding-pie/Last weekend I made a no bake yogurt cheesecake with a crumbled cookie bottom. I set up the yoghurt with some agar. That worked very well too. I can write up the recipe if you're interested.

How about chocolate pudding in individual bowls? If it's cold enough in the kitchen it will set, as long as you make it early enough in advance. Individual bowls will keep the amounts smaller so they can set more easily. Or crepes filled with jam or chocolate spread.

I was thinking about pudding or pudding pie - maybe I will make a trial batch to see if it sets? Crepes would be perfect, but I'm scared to make them. My normal go-to is fruit pie or cobbler, and I found this recipe online that could be easily veganised: http://culinarycory.com/2010/05/09/stov ... ple-crisp/Also checking raw sites!

I'd go for a no-bake peanut butter crispy bar with a chocolate gnache topping or a chocolate mousse cake with an almond meal/chocolate crust like the one in My Sweet Vegan.

The chocolate pudding pie on the PPK blog is wonderful and I had to keep myself from eating it all straight out of the pan while it was still hot, so even if it doesn't set all the way, it'll be delicious. and you can use a graham cracker crust that doesn't need baking. Also, if you have Vegan on the Cheap, there's a recipe for peanut butter, chocolate, oatmeal cookies where the batter is cooked on the stove top and then dropped by the spoonful onto a cookie sheet to set.

I third the suggestion for the Chocolate Pudding Pie from the PPK blog. My super-picky omni boyfriend raved about it.

I made a nice blueberry cobbler in my slow cooker once - I bet you can find stovetop recipes. The top won't get browned of course. If you have a blender/food processor you could make some silken tofu or cashew creme fraiche type topping. Also these no-bake chocolate peanut butter oatmeal cookies from Vegweb: No Bake Peanut butter Chocolate Oat Cookies Prep Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 5 mins | Makes: 24 cookies | Difficulty: Easy Ingredients: 1/3 cup vegetable oil 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup nondairy milk 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 cups rolled oats Directions: 1. Line cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. In a large pot, bring margarine, sugar, milk and cocoa to a boil. Stirring constantly, let boil for 1-2 minutes until mixture is completely melted. Do not over boil. 2. Take mixture off heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla until completely melted. Stir in oats. 3. Drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto prepared cookie sheet and allow to cool. When cool, turn cookies over to dry the bottoms. 4. Store in an airtight plastic container in the refrigerator. Enjoy! Source: http://vegweb.com/recipes/no-bake-peanu ... at-cookiesPudding seems weird to me as that always seems better chilled, but maybe that's just me.

If you have a blender/food processor you could make some silken tofu or cashew creme fraiche type topping. Stovetop cobblers are often called grunts! Google blueberry grunt and you'll get a lot of easily veganizable recipes-- the idea is that you cook up a mixture of berries, sweetener, and water, and once that is boiling, you drop in balls of a sweet dough to make little dumplings. I've made it before with success, but can't remember which recipe I used.

Don't be scared of crepes! It only takes a little practice, like the first two won't be perfect but then it's a breeze. I think VB has a very good explanation with a step by step approach to making perfect crepes.

I think all of these are great suggestions, and I would probably go with some awesome puddingy concoction. But if you really want to go all out and impress, go with something fried. Vegan donuts, funnel cake, fried dumplings, something like that. You could serve little fried dumplings with a stove top berry sauce and knock their socks off.

Hey, I agree with the spam. Spaghetti works for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, drinks, soup, salad, it's very versatile.

Drinks! Nice. Can I get you something to drink? Perhaps a glass of spaghetti? Or would you preffer a spaghetti smoothie?

If you decide against delicious spaghetti - which would go fantastic with a piccata, amirite? - I think either a nice stovetop rice pudding with some lemon zest and topped with toasted hazelnuts (toast them on the stovetop in a pan) or if pears are still in season for you, poached pears with vanilla, lemon zest and even those same toasted hazelnuts on top would be nice! Unless you're making dessert in advance that then needs to be able to hang out unrefrigerated &c. If you're not making dessert in advance but want something faster, spring strawberries with a little fresh basil or mint chiffonaded over the top with some chopped pistachios are delish, honestly, and easy.
Stovetop doesn't look like a real word now to me.

Serve a great dinner and fork the dessert. Give them Oreos and pair it with a dessert wine (or Chambord) and loosen up and get bombed. Tell them that's how vegans roll. That's what I'd do. Either that or spaghetti.
