http://www.northernveganfestival.com/Hey guys! :) The first "Northern Vegan Festival" will be taking place in central Manchester on Sat 13th April 2013 and we would appreciate your help in making it a successful event! If this first event goes well we plan to move it to a different Northern city each year. It's £1 on the door, we have over 90 stalls as well as talks, cookery demos, films, children's activities and entertainment - it's gonna be a good one! More info available on the website, or you can ask me in this thread :) There is also a free entry aftershow party from 6pm until late at Manchester's only vegetarian/vegan pub - the Thirsty Scholar. The pub is only 15 mins walk from Sachas Hotel and 2 mins walk from Oxford Road train station. Musicians and other entertainment upstairs from 6pm until 9pm, party downstairs from 6pm until late. Saturday 13th April 2013 10am-6pm Sachas Hotel Manchester

How big is the venue? We had a stall at the Lancaster venue last year and frankly it sucked - it was absolutely tiny!

I think I've persuaded the Mancs Market St Lush manager to take a stall. Going to see if I can hop along and eat cake...I mean, show my support.

I'd love to come but I have to be in Glasgow that day! I'm very envious; I managed to get to the Animal Aid Christmas Fayre in London last year and still feel energised from being there nearly three months later!

I'm 99% sure I'm coming! Would anyone want to hang out with me at the after party or for food somewhere on Sunday?

We're definitely going! We're staying overnight in Manchester (possibly at the festival venue). Where's a good place to get breakfast? And does anyone want to meet up for (probably late-ish) breakfast?

Sunday morning. We're travelling up on the Saturday, so we'll be there about an hour after it starts, and we leave around 2/2.30 on Sunday. So we could do dinner/drinks Saturday or breakfast/brunch Sunday.

I'll be around! At least two people are staying with me and maybe another (Jojo? There's a sofa bed you can share with Kip, but you'll have to come to the costume party with us!).
I have no firm plans beyond actually making it to the venue on Saturday, but it will be ace to catch up for dinner/brunch/any combination thereof. Bistro 1847 in Chorlton is directly across the road from Unicorn and does brunch at the weekend if you want to combine brunch with going to the vegan supermarket?

Google wants to tell me there's no public transport that goes out that way. Would we be able to get there without getting a taxi?

The 85 and 86 Stagecoach buses go past the front of Unicorn/1847 from the city centre and the tram to St Werburgh's Road stops at Chorlton, about a 4 or 5 min walk from Unicorn. There are probably other options in the city centre, but I don't brunch that often and am more familiar with dinner options!

There definitely is public transport that goes that way from the city. The bus stop is pretty much right outside Unicorn Grocery and the buses are really frequent. If you wanted to eat in the city, there's a place called Odd, which do a vegan fry up (pretty sure they still do it anyway), with a sweet potato patty, hash browns, scrambled tofu, sausages, roasted field mushroom, grilled tomato, beans and granary toast.

It looks like we can do brunch at 1847 if we're able to leave by about 1.15pm. It looks like 1847 opens at 10 for brunch on Sunday. Is that OK for everyone else? I want to be able to have a wander round Unicorn, but they don't open until 11 on a Sunday, so I don't think it would work for us if we did shopping first.
