hey guys,
i'm trying to re-create my favorite veggie burger from my fave restaurant in toronto "fresh" from the "re-fresh" cookbook. it calls for engevita inactive yeast and when i checked at the whole foods they didn't have it. i did end up using regular nutritional yeast flakes but the burgers didn't really taste the same.
anyone know where to get the engevita? (that's the brand) is it only available in canada?
thanks!!

I've bought it at health food stores in the bulk aisle, plus Noah's, and Ambrosia (probably too far for you, Doncaster @ Yonge & Steeles
Oh sorry, just re-read your thread. You are not in Canada? In any event try health foods stores.

Engevita is the only brand of nooch you can get in the UK (in my experience anyway). I have never seen it in the US. Did you use Red Star? Because that's a lot stronger tasting than Engevita. Maybe try a different brand?

As far as I know Engevita is not sold in the US. I've seen it in the UK, and named in recipes from Canadian bloggers. What brand of nutritional yeast did you use when you made the recipe? Some of the brands have subtle flavor differences, in my opinion, so you could try a different one. Some common brands in the US include Red Star, Kal, Bob's Red Mill, Frontier, and Now Foods. Is it also possible that there was some other variable in the recipe that could make it taste different? Like use of veggie stock, spice blends, something like that.
