I took a picture of myself that I really like. I needed that, my body dysphoria has been so bad lately.

Received the post office notice that the forms Wilson mailed were there to pick up (I needed to sign for them), so I picked them up and mailed out the waiver petition! We still have 3-4 months of processing time expected, but it's still progress! I took a personal day to do that and run some other errands, took myself out to lunch, and had a latte and chat with Wilson on my walk back home. He sounded really happy to hear that everything he did was write and that it's been mailed out.

let's hope that you get processed super fast by kind-hearted people, and that good news is coming your way.
I went out to restock the house after my week away and out to get birdie snacks. Tiki Bird is now the proud owner of several boxes of birdie snack sticks. He still looks way underweight but is now much more active and alert than he was yesterday. He's receiving a round-the-clock buffet, and I'm so relieved. The extra good news is that when I went to the agway-type place, i noticed there were no birds there (they sold canaries, parakeets, etc). The owner told me, when I was asking him for advice about delectable bird snacks, that the city just passed a law banning the sale of live animals in stores. Apparently only breeders can sell animals, not pet stores, and not agway-types either. I realize that this type of law doesn't stop the commercialization of animals, but it creates another step people have to take, and that maybe they will buy fewer. I know many many birds (and other animals) die in stores, and maybe now fewer will be bred to just hang around lonely and sick in pet stores.

What happened to Tiki Bird?!
Sunflower seeds are a good, high calorie food. Organic peanut butter on toast too. Those are the easiest to get into our tiel when she is being a picky eater.

I just had the super nicest day with my kids today. We didn't do anything too amazing really (worked in the garden, played in the back yard, went to the farmer's market, went to the park) but it was just... nice. They're just both such sweet and funny kids in their own ways, and some days I am just so struck by how special it is to get to spend so much time with them.
(Though I will exclude the part where the baby pooped on the floor, the 3 year old decided to take all his clothing off, and the plumber rang the doorbell all in the space of about 90 seconds.)

I've been up working on an order for delivery in the morning, and still have quite a bit to do, but I just looked at my phone a few minutes ago and saw a text they sent a couple of hours ago asking if I can deliver at 3pm tomorrow instead. Why yes. Yes I can.

Those are the easiest to get into our tiel when she is being a picky eater. thanks. we've done sunflowers, he's not into them so i've got some sprouting, we'll see if he'll try that. several types of sprouts going right now, actually. i thought about PB but didn't think about toast, that sounds perfect. we (kid and I) went away for a week, and my husband stayed home with the animals. Apparently the bird went off his feed the first day? maybe the second day too? and then was so weak that he was falling off his perch. I knew that regular, constant feeding was critical for small birds, but didn't expect that a bird would just not eat even in the presence of food. And then Mr T claims he was eating and pooping the whole time, so I am not really sure what happened. I got tired of interrogating and that's a whole nother set of problems. Good thing is, Tiki's surrounded by food and seems a lot more perky today.

I deep cleaned my house earlier this week, and this morning I did all my backwards administration stuff, paying bills etc. I feel like a responsible adult. (As always, Hyperbole and a Half puts it best.)

Maybe Tiki Bird just missed you a lot, torque? One of my mom's friends had a bird who refused to eat when she would go away (and she loved the bird so much that once she figured it out, she stopped going away).

I hope it's randomly reviewed really quickly. I was so excited yesterday, and then I talked to my dad, and he asked, so how much longer, a week or two? And for some reason it just made me really, really depressed. Especially because I practically have 3-4 months tattooed on my forehead. I was like, Dad! What the hell? He's got a lot going on though. Thanks for the good thoughts and for your help, Torque!! I almost feel confident (though I don't want to jinx it)!

Torque, birds do all kinds of stupid things. The macaw refused to drink water yesterday because his water bowl got moved a scary 3 inches to the left. By the time we realized and brought him a glass, he dramatically drank a ton for a parrot and was pathetically grateful.
They will stop eating if depressed.

Sunshine! Warm! Elton John on iPod! Driving by myself to the flower market! (I've always been a passenger and was very pleased I remembered the way without looking it up) Flower market! Picking out and buying flowers! Loud radio! Fast driving! Disco music! Text from sexy man friend! Drive my BFF to her work! Eat yummy sandwich! Drive home! Loud music again!
And now you have arrived at the present, we'll have to see where the day goes from here!
