I know this only applies to maybe 2 people (unless we have some lurkers), but Bread Street Brasserie is doing a vegan night on 21 February. The menu (below) looks amazing. It's £15 for three courses. I've just made reservations (contact details in the link). Maybe if this is successful, they'll actually put something vegan on their regular menu. To startMaple-roasted sprouts, charred baby gem and toasted hazelnut salad Cauliflower soup Puy lentil and carrot paté, carrot purée, toasted bloomer, basil-dressed rocket To followGlazed tofu with bok choi, broccoli, chestnut and rice noodle stir fry Chestnut mushroom risotto Seasonal vegetable ragu with spiced cous cous To finishLemon olive oil sponge cake, grilled nectarine, dairy free ice cream Rhubarb crumble served with soya custard Baked chocolate rice pudding brulee

D'oh - I'm in Edinburgh during the day on the 21/2, but will probably have caught a flight back by the evening.

Have you any idea if something like this will be happening again in April? Me and my other half are up from the 1st-4th! We've barely planned anything yet but am so excited! We're staying at Claymore b&b :)

No clue. A friend of mine pointed it out to me. This is the first time I've heard of any restaurant doing something like this in Edinburgh. I can always ask on the night - they might have an idea if they'll do it again depending on the amount of business they get.

The vegan chef (Ryan) who does these nights has done a few of them before and they are always quite popular so there will be more. I don't think he has any set dates for March or April yet though.
Rachel - do you have Facebook? If you do, there is a vegan group called VEG (Vegan Edinburgh & Glasgow) you can join and you can find out when Ryan's next vegan night is. We also have potlucks, restaurant trips and various other things organised though you don't have to go to any to use the group! Lots of member actually live outside the central belt so can't make it to meet-ups anyway.

Oooo... I could theoretically make that, but £15 is rather more than I usually spend on dinner and I can't think of any friends who could afford to go with me.
The link did say this is one of their 'regular' vegan nights, so one would hope it'll be repeated soon.

Sure thing;
Tues 2nd April, 6.30pm @ The Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh
Join us for our monthly potluck in Edinburgh.
If you've never been to a potluck before, this is a chance to sample some different types of vegan goodies. We each bring along a dish that can be shared with the group and this can be either bought or home-made. Good ideas for this include pizza, pasta, cake, buns, traybakes, and other vegan nibbles.
Please bring a plate and cutlery. Unfortunately, there are no food heating facilities in ACE. You're more than welcome to bring an alcoholic drink if you like.
Please bring £1 to pay towards the cost of the venue upkeep.

I think Ryan is going to post the menu on VEG (facebook group) tomorrow, so I will post it here after that.

Boo-urns. We'll just be getting back from Manchester that day, and Mike has his game night on a Sunday. :(
