My K-related cross-cultural experience of the day:
I'm in Federal Way, Wash., a city with a large Korean-American population. Lots of Korean stores, Korean signs, etc. (TRS is at a birthday party here.) In the parking lot at the mall where he's laser tagging, I was walking by woman speaking Korean and I understood what she was saying! Well, it was only one word ("Odi?"), but still. I went into the big Korean supermarket and they were playing SNSD's "I Got a Boy."

I found the 2NE1 TV segments about them recording with will.i.am kind of depressing. Maybe it's how all pop music is recorded these days (I sure wouldn't know), but it was so inorganic, with the singers contributing little. "Sing this part. (Sings the line.) Do it like that. Good! Now this phrase. Good." Like all the songs are built up from these 2–3 second fragments. There's no song at all until the producer assembles it.
And, of course, I agree about CL's badassery.

allkpop has a link to the 24/7 blooper reel. (My phone doesn't want to let me link to the video itself.)
Hahahaha, nice! I had to look at allkpop's code to see where they were linking from. I figured it must be the 4Minute channel, but nope. It's on the United Cube channel, which really should have been the second place I checked.
I've had this one bouncing around in my head all day.
2NE1's comeback is set for April. It's going to be mostly uptempo songs like "Can't Nobody" and "I'm the Best." It's going to be (mostly?) Teddy-written and -produced. Not the will.i.am stuff.
(And CL's planning a solo album after that.)

Bleh. Any news you get, the next day it comes back to "Who knows what or when?"
I love that one from Lee Hi. Yow. Great voice, killer style. An amazingly successful debut, too.
I think YG is going to keep her solo and focus on showcasing her voice with strong material. She was supposed to be in a new group, SuPearls, but they killed that project, and they haven't done a video for the song Scarecrow, which is much sweeter and lighter.
Yeah, I just read about SuPearls getting the axe. That's brutal.
That's what I thought. Harsh. I suppose the other girls may have wanted out of their contracts with YG so they could pursue other opportunities. Goodness knows YG has been dragging their feet on their debut, along with numerous other projects.
Speaking of rookie debuts, these girls have some damn fine voices.
The teaser/intro of Lee Hi's comeback is pretty great.
Wow! Very nice.

I love the "Eomeo eomeo eomeo" part, but why do they pronounce the word like "mazik"? It drives me nuts.
I know that English words with z are often pronounced with a j by Korean speakers. Is this like some misguided hypercorrection?
It's a portmanteau of magic and music. They should have set it up better. Without some context it can easily be mistaken for simply an odd mispronunciation. They could have titled the song something like Mazik (Magic + Music) and that would have worked.
I like the Color of KPop project. I'd like to see them do more of this. Dazzling Red is Hyosung from SECRET, Hyuna from 4minute, Nana from After School, Hyorin from SISTAR, and Nicole from KARA.
