Thanks! I never really enjoyed exercise until I got into weight lifting and I love training to be strong. I'm working towards pull-ups and lifting the equivalent of my body weight.

The kids loved the art lesson today. I decided to do neat owl drawings because of the Superb Owl thread, and they got really into it. The place I was teaching today is a youth center in a not-so-great neighborhood, and there tend to be a lot of behavior problems and not following directions (i.e., just doing whatever they want with the materials provided, not the actual project), so it felt like a real success. One girl even said, 'I love this. You all have the best ideas!' which I have never heard from any kid, ever. Hooray!

Yay 8ball!
My best thing is that my crazy busy day got not so busy, and I'm about to demolish some sushi once my friend gets here!

I just went to my first proper yoga class and I feel awesome! I'm just feeling super positive about everything. 2013 is great so far- I love my new job and volunteer work, I feel confident about managing my uni commitments, I'm fitter and healthier than I've probably ever been before, and a bunch of cool vegan things are happening (cafes, events, meeting new people). I'm pretty lucky and super thankful!

My yesterday was pretty good. Sunday I was feeling pretty down, mostly just general wintery blues I guess, but also was really disappointed because my sweetie and I had been talking about going to see The Book of Mormon together, possibly with his mom, for a couple of months. Then at brunch with his mom on Sunday, she mentioned that her brother had given her 4 extra tickets to go see it, so she and my sweetie and his two brothers were going to go next weekend. I was pretty bummed because I've really been looking forward to it, and didn't know who else would even go with me. Also I'm really into musicals and my sweetie is not so much, but he was into going to see this one and I know he WOULD go see anything I asked him to see, but I wanted to take the opportunity to go see something we would both be really into...
Anyway, it turns out one of his brothers has already seen it, so his mom, who knew I was pretty disappointed, uninvited him and called me yesterday to invite me instead. What a sweetheart.
Also, I have been kind of being a hermit lately, but decided after feeling so sad on Sunday that I need to reach out to my friends more. So I spontaneously invited a bunch of people over last night for dinner, and my two closest friends were able to come, and we looked at each others recent drawings and told ridiculous stories and it was good. I also started writing a letter to a friend of mine who lives across the country. I'm feeling good about taking steps to reach out to people.

I got my copy of the journal that published five of my poems in the mail! The Nashwaak Review, volume 28/29. So excited! This is my most extensive publication to date! And they all look great!

Vegan bagels with vegan cream cheese at our local bagel place with a fellow lovely PPKer and our kids. Inspired by the vegan pet peeve thread :)
So delicious.

I might be adopting a new dog-daughter soonish! Our friends are fostering the sweetest pup and we want to adopt her BUT we have to wait till my partner gets a job so we can afford an apartment with a yard. We don't know when he will find a job and our friends will have adopt her out to a different home if we take too long. Ahhhhh it's killing me! She is so so so so sweet and I just know she and our current pup would be BFFs.

I feel so accomplished today. I deep cleaned the house, bathed Ginny who was getting SUPER smelly, bought a new pair of hair clippers because my old one broke, gave myself a shave and a haircut, went to the goodwill and indulged in myself a bit and bought a lamp for the room that's been too dark for almost a year now... Danced a bunch... Texts with crush... Oh yeah I dyed a pair of pants too. I feel like I might even be forgeting something. Well also I bought some gold nail polish and painted just my pinky fingers! I don't know why I've been so getting into girly shiitake like that considering I had a sex change away from that shiitake but whatever, I don't care! For some reason I felt like just doing the pinky was a good compromise, any time I've painted all my nails it feels like too much and I start feeling weird.

I don't see it carried in many places here in Toronto.
