There`s all kinds of amazing food-related organizations in Montreal; Here are just a few. I`ll add more on as I get the information of others. Please add your own findings too!

http://www.lefrigovert.com/ Le Frigo Vert is a collectively run food co-operative store offering selections in organic fruits and vegetables, bulk staples, natural household and body care products, alternative and organic women's products, grocery, vegan-friendly foods, and more.

http://commensal.com/ – A wonderful vegan/vegetarian buffet restaurant in several locations in Quebec, and 1 in Torondo. The one in Montreal on St.Denis is especially beautiful – Great ambience! The food is delicious and although pricier, it`s still affordable.

http://www.crudessence.com/ This raw vegan organic little restaurant is now located in two locations in Montreal. They`re food is very pricey but makes for a special occasion. They sell common raw vegan ingredients such as cacao powder/butter, goji berries etc, truffles and cakes (their cheesecake is Amazing!!). They also have classes for those interested in diving in the raw food world.

http://www.peoplespotato.blogspot.com/ “The People`s Potato is a vegan soup kitchen at Concordia University, Montreal- a student initiated project that was founded in 1999 in order to address student poverty.“They offer free/by donation healthy vegan lunch each week day during the Fall and Winter semesters. They`re more than happy to welcome volunteers.

http://www.meetup.com/rawfood-319/ – Each month a woman named Ildiko hosts a raw vegan potluck in Crudessence`s lounge. Many people come – She`s been doing this for years! It costs 5$ to enter and you have to bring yoru own raw vegan dish, but the food there is really amazing, inspiring, and filling! Sometimes there are giveaways. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Viva Granola is a lifesaver. They used to be only web-based, but opened a physical store last year. They're such nice people that I wish I could afford to order from them more often!

I'd like to mention that Crudessence also sell dried fruit, nuts, seeds, etc. on the web.

Sadly, Viva Vegan closed both the online and physical store in November 2012.

Le Commensal started in October 2012 selling crabmeat, shrimp and chicken in their restaurants to accomodate flexitarians.

Yeah, I find Le Commensal's reasons for changing their menu to acommodate flexitarians to be more in the name of money than in the name of ethics. I never ate there and I am not inclinced to eat there at all.

Rumor has it that one of the new food trucks in the city will be operated by Le Panthere Verte! It's a start towards mobile vegan food in Montreal!

Is everything vegan or is it a bakery with vean options? Cinnamon brioche sounds delicious. I hope to be up again in a few weeks.

[Funny side - google navigation is hilarious with French words, Avenue des Pins is one of the best and took me a minute to figure out what she was saying]

Sophie Sucree is completely vegan. AFAIK, she's the only solely vegan bakery storefront operating in Montreal. (I am not including any restaurants that happen to serve their own desserts, or the raw dessert place.) The lady who runs it is super nice and I highly recommend her scones as well!

Crazy Cupcakes is not totally vegan but one of the owners is and she makes some on demand or when they have stock
