I have another pretty uneventful story. I also went off it in the hope of getting libido back.

Libido is a tiny bit better, cycle is regular, maybe even a tad lighter, I get a few spots around my period but that was pretty much always the case, I have put on weight but that was happening before the change.

I'd just try it but be diligent with whatever birth control you use.

Did anyone coming off the pill have poop related issues? After a really nasty sickness virus at Christmas I decided to use the opportunity to give up the pill even before I run out. It's only a few weeks so far, and I did have a couple of tearful days, but that seems to be over. Now though, I find myself to be constipated and that's never been a problem for me. I'm not eating or doing anything else differently so it's the only thing I can think of but I don't know if it's even likely that the pill could affect that. Anyone know?

Possible TMI: constipation, diarhea, and other poo problems have always accompanied my periods, but that went away while I was on hormonal BC. It's back now....

Argh, now you're truly terrifying me.

Don't be too scared, I'm sure it's different for everyone. I haven't ever had any issues and I've been off it for years. My period is really regular and has been since going off it. I use the Fertility Awareness Method to track it and I know the day before/the morning of the day it starts that it's going to start, so it's not unpredictable for me (I really did like knowing exactly when it would start when I was on the pill).

I saw the comment about hair loss and now I wonder if stopping the pill had anything to do with my hair thinning. Also, I feel better off the pill, but I stopped about 8-9 years ago, so it's hard to remember what I felt at the time. I had been on it for about 5-6 years.

*bump*

I just finished a pill pack last week and got my period over the weekend. I'm on a week break from school, so I used this week as an opportunity to stop taking the pill after being on it for more than 15 years. I'm having some symptoms, I think, but I'm not sure. I was really emotional yesterday and a bit weepy about nothing, but the more annoying symptom is sleep disturbance and tiredness. I couldn't fall asleep last night and the past two nights I woke up drenched in sweat. I'm also really slow and tired. Anyone have issues with sweating when coming off?

I was on Yaz for the past four or five years, if that matters. I have been having terrible migraines since I moved over here, which is also when they switched me from Ortho Tri-cyclen LO (they didn't have that in the NL) to Yaz. I hadn't considered it as a connection until my friend, who has a child and is pregnant with another, told me her migraines decreased when she came off the pill.

I stopped taking it because we want to try and have kids in the next few years and there are some other meds I need to come off of to do that. However, I'm also curious about what life is like NOT on these pills and if being off of them improves any other issues. I started them when I was 14-15 due to ovarian cysts and have never been off them, so I don't know myself without these drugs. I'm going to use FAM and the Clue app to track things.

I think it makes sense to have some of the same symptoms people have after giving birth - even if all the other hormonal stuff doesn't happen (milk production and release through prolactin and oxytocin), you are experiencing a rapid decrease in estrogen. I was drenched in sweat for about a week after giving birth, and I think that is fairly common.

Thanks, amonik! The sweating seemed to be only one or two nights, which is good, but I'm still having the sluggishness. I also deal with depression and the weather is getting shitty, so I'm trying to be mindful of what could be my hormones and what could be the depression monster sneaking in.

For example, this morning I was awake and productive. I made breakfast for my partner and I (toaster waffles with syrup and a smoothie) and started doing a craft project. All of a sudden I got a racing heart that felt like anxiety. Then I crashed on the couch almost exhausted from the racing feeling in my chest. It was all very quick, but I'm curious about how the hormones affect my body. My partner wondered if it was the breakfast, but there was nothing in there that could have caused all that...at least I don't think so. Sugar? It was all pretty weird.
