I miss M too but I am grateful that Native Foods moved right in. I was worried it would turn into just another fashionable eatery of many. I am happy to have vegan food so nearby when I am there.

yeah, i'm glad native foods swooped in, too. (but i'll be a complainer and say that i miss the old native foods - since tanya sold it, it really ain't the same at all.)

Please help me, people of LA! My husband will be attending Expo West in Anaheim and has company meetings at the convention center on his birthday. I'm hoping to have a big ol' cake or some sort of birthday treat delivered for the group during their lunch break. Can anyone offer ideas for a delicious (most attendees will not be vegan) bakery/restaurant to contact? Also, can anyone tell me if it is even realistic to ask an LA bakery to deliver to Anaheim? I have zero familiarity with the area.
So far my only thought is Madeleine Bistro, since they are amazing and I know they do catering and custom orders. Who else should I get in touch with? Thanks so much!!

i was in tustin recently. www.freesoulcaffe.com had awesome vegan desserts. we sampled a few (i was the only vegan in the group), and all were great - very omni friendly, too (ie not trying to be "healthy" or whatever the typical complaint is about vegan desserts - they were just good, decadent desserts!) looks like there's a couple of native foods in that area, too, they might be willing to help you out with some sweets.

Mandycoot, maybe Veggie Grill can help you; they have awesome carrot cake. Native Foods does cater, but I think their main dessert item is boogie bars (I could have outdated info). OC has a great little chain called Mother's http://www.mothersmarket.com/ I think they do in-house baked stuff.

I've heard Madeleine Bistro has been unreliable lately, and besides, it would be crazy expensive to deliver from Tarzana to Anaheim. I'd investigate options in Orange County if I were you (I don't know that area too well, so I can't help much beyond agreeing that Veggie Grill's carrot cake is delicious).

I called around, and even found some other promising bakeries on Yelp that did vegan cupcakes and delivered, but ultimately I decided it is going to be too expensive to provide enough dessert for everyone that will be there (even assuming a percentage don't eat the vegan food!). I appreciate all the help though!!
