Any ipad owners out there? I'm getting one this weekend and I'm trying to find a case that's also a stand. All but one of the case/stands I've found are leather. I'd like to think there would be a little more variety in cruelty free ones, but this is the only one I've found. Any recommendations?

The best one is the one that Apple makes. It folds in a couple different ways and is made out of a nylon type material.

I have a Dodocase and I love it! It looks like a Moleskine notebook, which is not only pretty nifty looking, but it also makes the iPad less conspicuous. It is handmade out of faux leather and bamboo by a little company in San Francisco, so I felt good about my purchase. I definitely recommend it.

Does it put it in easy typing position?

Their website is http://www.dodocase.com. When you fold it over, the iPad is at an angle, which makes typing a little easier, but I still use a wireless keyboard when I want to get real work done.

I bought the official apple one - it's made from neoprene.
It picks up dirt really quick, but cleans well with a damp micro fibre cloth.
It has flaws and can be uncomfortable to hold. I'd like a better looking leatherette case, but haven't found one yet that's perfect in every way - am open to suggestions!
Something to note - a lot of leather cases are actually fake. Microsuede for instance is manmade.

Thanks for the input! The dodocase is super cute! I am definitely leaning toward that one at the moment.

I have a dodo case, and I adore is aesthetically, but I'm not in love with it functionally. You can kind of stand it up to watch something, and bending the cover back behind it gives it a couple of inches slant which makes typing easier. It's not that flexible though, and the bottom to corners the wooden piece has broke. The iPad is still held in place (and the wooden corners haven't broken off) because of the silicone material, but it still drives me nuts. I might check out this one. I went to this blog to find the name of iguy because I thought it'd be an awesome secondary case for the petit gentleman of the house. http://www.swiss-miss.com/2012/09/grip-for-ipad.htmlETA: just saw this one on the speck site that's cute! http://www.speckproducts.com/fitfolio-for-ipad.htmlAnd here's a link to iguy. http://www.speckproducts.com/iguy-for-ipad.html

You could also go look at Encase. They have a few vegan cases. Also I iSkin has some vegan cases also. All of them double as stands. I have the Encase folio on my Gen 1 iPad and it works quite well.
You could also just Google "vegan iPad cases folio" to see what else is out there.

I have a dodo case that I quit using because I think it allowed a pretty significant scratch on my iPad. It just wasn't really functional. Now I use the one from apple.

That's a shame butternut. I had a Dodocase initially but the wood ended up cracking. I bought something called Fieldfolio but I just looked at their website and they no longer make any cases. (and I don't think anyone is actively looking for a case since the 2 year old thread was ressurected by a spammer but I figured I'd give my input)

Ha! I didn't even look at the date. I feel like a tool. BUT, a tool who is getting a new iPad case!

I'll be back in October or so looking for a case, that is when the next ipad is expected. My current one is going to my husband and I'll get a new one.

They are having another new one! I didn't even realize there was an iPad 4, now there will be an iPad 5? I am so out of it. Although, I am super duper happy with my iPad 3. That's good to know though, because if husband wants one I'll see if he wants to wait until the next.

yeah, they are expected to release 1-2 ipads per year. I have the iPad 2 which I love but I have noticed some slow down on some applications on it.

My ipad1 is fine unless I want to use an APPLE app, like iTunes store, iBooks, iTunes university, etc. those all crash. Apparently Apple has no intention of fixing this and just say its a ram issue.
It's ok--if I can't shop for music, I save $10-15/month.
I need a case though since my dodo case has fallen apart.

Damn those dodo cases! I never even take mine with me anywhere, I don't understand how it broke. (Since I got mugged last July I'm wary of carrying it with me.)
ETA: Although now I'm tempted to start because I have access to the wifi at work!

Mine slid off my bed onto carpet and the wood cracked and a piece broke off. iPad would have been fine without the case.

Man, my dodocase fell apart too! I didn't find it all that functional, but it was cute! Now I just use nothing, mostly because I have a feeling they don't make cases for rinky dink ipad1s anymore.

Yeah, but nobody has anything good for ipad1 anymore. Which is dumb. When my mom's first case fell apart, she got a Coach case from the outlet. Those work for all models of iPad because it has extra cutouts. Why can't others make them like that too?

I have this: Logitech ZAGG keyboard case. Best purchase I ever made. It's not only sturdy, but it lets me set up my ipad as a small laptop, and the keyboard is great. When I'm travelling, I pop the whole thing in a cheap neoprene sleeve. (It says it's for the iPad2 but I use works perfectly for my iPad 3.)
