A place for us to discuss the Garden State's awesome vegan options! From the Cinnamon Snail, to Papa Ganache to Veggie Heaven, Loving Hut, Mesob, Kaya's Kitchen, Good Karma Cafe, and all the other vegan havens we've got, post about them here and share your thoughts! Also, go to the Rutherford Pancake House and Sweet Avenue Halloween Party and raise funds for our only local sanctuary, for the Animals, on 10/30/2010. ETA: for the websites of any of the places listed, just hover over them and click for their homepages!

melisser wrote: Tell me, how do I get to papa ganache? Is it anywhere near Jersey City, Go Lightly, or For the Animals? Also, I need to track down the Cinnamon Snail! (I am lazy with maps?! It doesn't look close.) Papa Ganache is in Keyport NJ - Its down the Shore, about 40 mins (I think) from Jersey City - Garden State Parkway all the way. For the Cinnamon Snail they are generally in Hoboken (th, fri, sat) - just follow them on FB for exact locations. I was going to make a thread for your visit anyway, so you can get all your questions taken care of :)

I forgot Sprig & Vine! Its just a hair over the border in Pa, but well worth the drive. An upscale vegan bistro started by an alumnus of Horizons. Their brunch is divine (French toast with seasonal fruits, nuts and a vanilla almond cream) and they make the best ever tempeh reubens<3

Just a note, Papa Ganache just opened a Red Bank outpost inside of Novelteas on Bridge Ave across from the train station. In addition to Cinnamon Snail's usual Sundays here in Red Bank and the previously mentioned Good Karma Cafe, the vegan visitor will have a lot of good options at Eurasian Eatery on Monmouth St or might also opt for the vegan pizza with soy cheese (not sure what brand) over at Pizza Fusion on Broad.
So many good options in town...I have to get back to recipe hunting here @ PPK to keep myself engaged in the kitchen and not say, getting some take out.

The Pop Shop is in Collingswood. http://www.thepopshopusa.com/Awesome place, they have a veg grill to avoid cross contamination and they are very nice and willing to modify things.

Pizza Fusion will make any pizza with Daiya if you ask. It isn't on the preprinted menu but they have it and will make yours with it.

I discovered this place last time I was visiting my parents -- Natural Way Cafe in Fair Lawn. All vegetarian, mostly vegan, and the food is really good. It's mostly a take-out place -- I think they've got one or two little tables, but it's pretty much just for takeout.

I haven't been there in awhile though; I tend to forget about them in the presence of Rutherford Pancake House and Veggie Heaven...

Tofulish! Even I've been to The Pop Shop!!! It's sooo fun. Vegan pancakes and milkshakes!
I am dying to go to the Cinnamon Snail. Argha.
Also - I have a t-shirt that says the title of this thread up for grabs! My mom bought it for me to give to my boyfriend's little sister, bc the family's from Jersey, but I never got around to it and now it would just be weird. So it's wee. Who wants it :)

The Cinnamon Snail is expanding! They're moving to a bigger kitchen, so for the next few weeks they are serving on Saturday (H'boken) and Sunday (Redbank) only.
Are you in Philly RandiJM?

Yeah I'm in Philly but I am bored (home sick right now, but generally bored) so I would enter the Jersey zone sometime soon.

Wooot! NJ! Via Roma down in Toms River just started offering faux-meat in addition to their already extensive vegan menu. Also offer Papa Ganache desserts which are really, really good. Veggie Heaven just always comes first in my book- I've had two birthday parties there. Go Lightly and Terra Tea something or another in Montclair are also good. And don't get me started on Sweet Avenue Bake Shop and Rutherford Pancake House... I do the brunch at RPH and brunch-dessert at SABS every Sunday. So good.

It isn't on the menu but is on their facebook page. I have ordered it and it was def Daiya. Also part of Cinnamon Snail's expansion will include a store front in Red Bank. I am so psyched that Red Bank is finally reveganizing. After Down to Earth closed it seemed to be a desert for a little while.

I am so proud to be from Jersey. I'm going home tomorrow so I think I'll have to make a quick trip to Red Bank and feed my face.
