That sucks. I'm sorry.

I'm back to pain most evenings. Apparently I can't stay up past 8 pm anymore.

Maybe not? I got one today and I didn't have meds on me and it went away? Like magically? Poof? And no exhaustion today - the last 2 days I HAD to lie down I was so tired - not today.

I get that achey evening thing too pw :( I'm wondering if it's a temp change thing? Like here it's warm during the days and cold at nights? and my pain the last few days has been concentrated in my face, so, sinuses?

May we all feel better soon and have at least 3 days in a row totally pain free!!

I rebound like hell from everything, but midrin is the most tolerable. I can't take anything else except narcotics, anyway.

Yeah? Narcotics don't do anything at all for me.

When all things make you sick, there's not much else you can do. When they do work, it at least knocks me out or makes me care less about the stabbing pain.

Or they just make me puke, but that's usually what the promethazine/fenergen is for.

No, really - they don't do ANYTHING for me - not knock me out, not numb, not make me puke - nothing.

That's curious.

Indeed. I always hated when docs would throw them at me - a whole lot of worthless. Codein and fioricet and all that shiitake.

Codine does nothing for me and fioricet just makes my stomach hurt. I used to be on lortab, but now it's percoset for when it gets bad (but as I said, barely working because it's the only damn thing I had.)

my forking neurologist! i called to make a closer follow up appt - mine is 3 months from my last appt. - because i'm having migraines 5-7 days a week which is worse than before. and i'm only allowed to take the zomigs - which are less useful than the relpax i think - twice a week. and the doc relays through the receptionist what is essentially this message:
it takes about 6 weeks for the topamax to get fully into your system and you just got up to full dosage and you've been on it for 4 or 5 weeks. it may take longer because you probably have medication overuse headaches. you can't really do anything for those times when you have headaches and you can't take more zomigs. you'll have to deal.
bisque.

I've found that medications are worthless, or just make you go crazy.

When they put me on antidepressants in an attempt at a nontraditional migraine treatment I forking lost my mind. If that happens to someone taking that whose not depressed, I wonder what it does to people who actually have that problem.

I used some exhaustion anger I was dealing with today and called the doc and said to the receptionist that I wanted off the topamax and I didn't think the doc was working with me at all and that I wanted out. I said I wanted to know how to transition off the topamax and that I thought I'd need a refill of the 25mg topamax (I only have the 100mg now) to get off of it. She was kinda rude and I got a rude voicemail back saying to drop to 50mg for a week by cutting my pills in 1/2 and then I could just stop. Talk about a doc who has obviously never had a migraine.

Quitting topamax was an awesome forking idea! I took 1/2 a 100mg pill last night and I have felt clearer headed today and I've had less migraine pain today (maybe 30 minutes total, tops which is less than most days) (knock on wood).

I found this site on going off of topamax - it's a cool site, actually - http://www.crazymeds.us/topamax.html

Quote:
How to Stop Taking Topamax: Your doctor should be recommending that
you reduce your dosage by 25-50mg every four to five days, based on the 21 hour
half-life, if not more slowly than that. If you're taking another anticonvulsants and you're at 400mg a day, Ortho-McNeil states you
can reduce the dosage by 100mg a day eve...ry week.

Anyway. I had a migraine yesterday but my period started yesterday too. I forgot to take my 50mg last night and i'm trying to decide if I should just give up or keep going.

Does anybody here have issues with antibiotics causing/triggering their migraines?

I am on a course now and and have had a headache since I started taking them.

suzy - i understand :(

i have another migraine too - this is like 2 or 3 days in a row. still have my period though so hoping they're connected. also, i too am wondering about TMJ and sinus issues and whatnot. I wear a mouthguard at night but there's a lot of tightness in my jaw. have to make a dentist appointment.
