Gossip reports that Earth Balance is making some kind of new snacks, like cheese popcorn, and peanut butter crunchy ting-type things. Has anyone had these? Where can they be purchased? How terrible are they for us?

(I'm sitting here trying to make a writing deadline, dreaming of junk food)

I really want to try them, but I haven't yet been by Whole Foods to pick some up. I hope they're good!

I scanned the chip aisle at WF looking for them about a week ago, but I didn't see them. I'm intrigued by the cheese popcorn.

Food Fight has some of them. I've had the cheesy poofs which were good.

I'm excited to try the cheese popcorn at some point. I used to eat that stuff a lot in elementary school.

i've tried the cheesey puffs! they were good! they surprised me! haven't seen anything else in store (whole foods, my co-op didn't have).

can't say they are great for you, but, you know, comparable to most other chips and savoury crunchy snack foods.

the earth balance website has all the info on 'em! i want to find the pb snack things, they look good..

I've tried four now, I think it was all of them: buttery popcorn, aged cheddar popcorn, cheesy puffs and peanut oat-covered popcorn. Everything has been snack-attack worthy. I was first crushing on then puffs, which are very Robert's Gourmet, but now I think the aged cheddar is my favorite of the bunch. It's pretty cool to see them available(especially that aged vegan cheesy flavor) in Whole Foods soon enough across the US...

Oh, and they are all not cheap, for sure. I can see eating the peanut butter ones like cereal. I've seen them in Food Fight!, Portland's Laurelhurst Whole Foods and Austin's big WF.

How was that PB popcorn? I don't like popcorn too much and couldn't tell how much of that was in there vs how much was just drenched in the PB oats.

How do those puffy things compare to tings? Are they similar in texture, or are they closer to puffy cheetos? Or styrofoamy like pirate's booty? Or something else entirely?

I've only had the aged cheddar popcorn. It's really yummy! Definitely tv-watching worthy.

The white cheddar puffs reminded me of Pirate's Booty, except they have a bit more substance to them. They are made from white beans, so they're a bit more hearty than a normal cheese puff.

As for the peanut butter oat popcorn, obsessed! When you get near the bottom of the bag, it turns out a bunch of peanut buttery peanuts have fallen down there with some oat bits and so you get less popcorn near the end. Not that I am complaining at all! And yeah, if I recall correctly, each of these snacks ran me between 3 and 4 bucks at WF.

I requested these at my health food store but the number isn't even in their order book (the January-March edition) so they can't even order them. :(

I really like the puffs! They aren't like, end all be all amazing, but they're very nice. They're something that I can be satisfied with eating a normal portion of, which I like. I can also demolish a bag, don't get me wrong.

The cheesy puffs- I've eaten the entire bag in one sitting on at least 3 occasions. (I've only gotten them from FF and WF but if I'm in any other store's chip aisle I find myself grumbling grrrrr NO PUFFFFFFSSSSSS.)

The thing that gets me is that they really do taste like aged cheddar! It's not strong enough for me though or something. I'd like more of that powder flavor. I have been known to dump the powdery end bits into my mouth. Or at least try to.

YES. The bottom of the bag is the best part.

I've only had the white cheddar popcorn, but holy hell is it good. Roommate says it's not exactly like Smartfood but it's close enough for me. My Whole Foods has the white cheddar popcorn and the puffs, but not the other two.

It was quite different than I expected. There's definitely popcorn in there but a lot of coating falls off. I liked it but again, it's a little greasy.

I thought the puffs texture was a little weird. Fun, but weird. I loved loved loved the aged cheddar popcorn. So damned good. I even really liked the buttery popcorn. And I pretty much lost my cool over those peanut butter ones. They are pretty much like cracker jacks with peanut butter and past added in. I totally loved em. Like Jess said, I think all of these goodies are totally snack attack worthy! I got to try them because EB sent me some to sample and review for my blog. I've been looking in the stores, but haven't seen them yet. This is either a tradgedy or a blessing.

My mom just found the white cheddar puffs at the 99 Cents Only store! For 99 forking cents!! She only bought two bags, though. Amateur. Gotta go back and buy them all, obviously.

My WF needs to take the peanut butter popcorn off sale so I will no longer be able to justify buying it. It's the most addictive thing I've eaten in a long while.
