One of my cats is 6 years old. She isn't eating and has been throwing up a lot. At first I thought it was just normal cat pukey-ness, but her appetite started decreasing and then yesterday she stopped eating altogether. She's drinking water, but she throws that up too. I'm waiting for the vet clinic to open in 30 minutes.
I lost my very dear old cat about 11 months ago and I'm still not over it. I don't know if I can go through this again.
I know I'm jumping to conclusions, I guess I'm just looking for somewhere to 'vent' with folks who understand.

Thanks you guys. Vet doesn't think she's swallowed something. He gave her fluids and a shot for nausea. He said he recommended her coming home with me rather than staying at the clinic over the weekend. He's going to phone me tonight or tomorrow morning with her blood test results. I'm just so worried. :(

i'm glad they sent her home with you for the weekend, and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed her test results come back alright and that it's nothing major. i hope she starts to feel better super soon. please keep us posted, lobsteriffic. <3

I hope that you and your vet can get a handle on things soon! I'm glad that your kitty is home for the weekend and that she gets to feeling better. Anti-nausea medication works pretty well on kitties, so fingers crossed.

I'm so sorry lobster! Thinking good thoughts for your kitty. One of my cats had a similar issue several years ago, ended up being pancreatitis, with IV fluids and hospitalization she pulled through just fine.
It can be hard to diagnose in cats so I thought I'd put it on your radar if they can't find anything.

I sure hope she's ok and isn't badly obstructed. Could still just be gastroenteritis. Fingers crossed that everything is ok!!

It's not looking good. I'm phoning the vet when the office opens in 20 minutes but there is a chance that she may need to be euthanized. I just...ugh, I don't even know what to say.

I'm so sorry lobster! Did they run a full blood panel to check her liver and pancreas? I'm only asking because when my female cat was 5 she started just violently throwing up everything, radiographs showed no obstruction, most of her blood work was good, but there was one value that is indicative of pancreatitis in dogs (but not cats) and that was all they could find. I had her transferred to our local University veterinary teaching/research hospital and they confirmed it. With ~1.5 weeks in the ICU with IV fluids and painkillers she pulled through.
Good luck, I'm hoping for the best!

She's had a blood panel, x-rays, an ultrasound, all kinds of stuff. She's crashing and not doing very well. I'm calling the vet office. She's such an amazing, beautiful cat. :(
