sometimes when i look at this thread, i can smell dogs. that's how much i want to kiss all the puppy faces.
i actually got to meet aponte, one of the shelter dogs i posted in here way back in 2010. he was being fostered by some very nice people in queens or greenpoint, and they were walking him in mccarren park. i completely lost my mind; i think they were a little afraid of me until i explained myself. he was every bit as awesome as i knew he would be.

REGINALD. Oh my god, I virtual love this dog so much. 20lb bully/dachshund mix.  There's absolutely no way I can make it down to FL and pick him up, though. Heart. Breaking. And he's a hurt dog (he has an old leg injury. I think he'd probably need it taken off.) in a rural kill shelter--I feel like there isn't much hope. I will never forget the first time I met a greyhound after only seeing them on the Simpsons. I believe my exact reaction was 'HOLY shiitake I DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE REEEEEEEEEEEAL'. And then I wouldn't stop following them around.

Awwwww. I'm seriously considering getting this guy. My boyfriend is volunteering at a best friends super adoption thing and this little 7yo dachshund dude is there. Boyfriend says he's REALLY SWEET and My Kind Of Dog, and the woman from the rescue is letting him go home with boyfriend tonight so they can see if he's ok with cats. And the rescue lady's son works near where I live and could transport the dog down in a couple of weeks, aaaah.
