I'm guessing no. I can also personally say I've never listened to punk music so I was never punk nor post punk but I understand the sentiment.

Punks that do drugs are so much more fun to hang out with.
I think the church does a pretty good job at turning people away without any help from Communists. After all you ain't wanted in a lot of them if your gay, bi, transsexual, a woman, not white, etc.......hell some church's are probably against veganism too. Hey remember the witch hunts and burning witch's at the stake? Please keep that tyrannical christianity away from me!

At the risk of beating soothing a dead sleeping horse, I would like to say:
I think Communism—as practiced by actual humans in the actual world—has been a pretty shitty thing. Evil, even. Mao, Stalin, and so on—these were bad people who cared about unchecked power, not freedom. Could Communism be a good thing, if done "right"? How do I know?
Regardless, the idea that people who are into punk rock are actually all about supporting strict, regimented, authoritarian, repressive regimes seems silly.
And regardless of that, I really don't see why we're talking about it here, in this way.
And my name is in orange.

My 1st year of High School English teacher told us Communism, in the ideal, in theory, wasn't necessarily a bad thing. We all thought she was nuts because she told us about naked ironing when we were 12 and, ewwwww, naked people! And also because, Cold War and evil and such only happened some years before. So I ran home an told my mum about how the "crazy wacky teacher who takes her clothes off IN HER HOUSE told us Communism didn't have to be a bad thing" And then my mum said that that was TRUE! And my mind was forking blown.
And then I wrote my undergrad honours dissertation about communism/post-communism.
I am not interesting.

yeah, i don't see anything wrong with taking from the fortunate to ensure that the unfortunate aren't living destitute.
i think capitalism is far worse than communism. if you can't trust people to do the right thing (and you can't. do you SEE the state of america these days?), then fairness needs to be enforced.

Your left leaning totalitarian mod Mat. What do you consider to be a more reasonable way? That isn't what I said. Some punk bands ARE Marxist/Communist, that is a fact. I don't see why what I am doing is unreasonable. Is this a politics forum for vegans to just pat each other on the back and tell each other how compassionate they are? Why do you have a politics forum if you don't want to debate? I don't see what the issue is. I am not writing to peas anyone off, I am writing because I care. Is there any point to politics other than being accepted or something like that? Don't you care about the people who disagree with you?

it's unreasonable because . . . like, we were all hanging out in the park together eating vegan potato salad and oreos, and you marched up and called us commie punks and started talking about god and stuff, and we were all, "what? we're listening to k-pop and morrissey, man, we don't know anything about heroin," but you just kept lecturing us about how we should stop being marxists and killing people with our dirty needles and faulty ideals. it was a weird way to introduce yourself, and it just kept getting weirder.

jstrodel wrote: Is there any point to politics other than being accepted or something like that? Don't you care about the people who disagree with you? The point of the politics forum is to act as a platform for former punks turned Christians with no visible interest in vegan cooking to rant against Communism. Sometimes we get jerks coming in here though. You know the type. Always participating in other parts of the forum and taking an active interest in veganism. They tend to post things relative to current events or animal rights.
