I did a quick search and didn't see a dedicated thread, so I'm making one! Feel free to merge if one exists, and I'll try to be less lazy next time*. (*Lie.)
UM, first, Vada Sultenfuss! Second, this episode legit scared me. The elevator scene was SCARY.

I can't really watch it these days. All the random violence against women and children freaks me out. I saw the one where the Captain wakes up with a dead hooker and I had nightmares for weeks.

I agree, that one was really intense (and horrific), Tofulish. My heart was breaking for how lonely and confused Cragen was though. I thought Dann Florek did an excellent job.

The 50 shades of grey ep was pretty decent. But my all time favorite is the one that had the lady with the peg leg who looked like she had been inspired by Amanda Palmer.

I forget to watch new episodes on NBC but I watch reruns all the time. Criminal Intent was my favorite Law & order show, mostly because of Vincent D'onofrio's character, but I've grown to like SVU.

I really think it's because I liked the CI characters a lot better. I tend to get annoyed with crime shows because they rarely get the law right, but I can look past it when the characters are good.

I used to like SVU. When I got pregnant I started not being able to watch a lot of the "be entertained by someone else's terrible experiences" kind of shows and the taste for it hasn't come back. I used to watch a lot of things like "I Survived" and "I shouldn't be alive" and SVU sort of fit into that category. I just watched the 50 shades episode and it was way too scary for me.
I do think the watchability of the show is inversely proportional to the quality of the acting. Dann Florek being too good at forlornness = unwatchable because it's too believable.
That being said, still watching "Dexter," but it's tough.

I love when Eames did the sideways look last night. I also like thinking about her and Benson as friends. Overall I was pretty blah with the episode.

If I'd known Eames was on I would have watched. Now I'll have to check online.

I watched a tonne of L&O when my son was an infant. In one form or another, it's always on. I developed a possibly irrational dislike of Olivia Benson.

I always catch this show on reruns on TBS (or something like that) and I love it. I have never watched them in order though so maybe I will start doing that from the beginning.
My heart will always belong to Jerry Orbach in the original L&O though.

Haven't seen any new ones, but... I just watched all 12 seasons on Netflix since Jan 5th or so. That has to be some kind of (embarrassing) record. Seriously, I need to get out of this winter funk.
But I can't wait to see Christopher Melloni on the latest season of True Blood (which I have not seen yet)!

I watched the episode where Mike Tyson plays a prisoner on death row, who was the victim of rape by a Sandusky-like pedophile coach. I thought the story was well done, especially how the prosecutors buried evidence to avoid "tainting" a victim's good name, but thought the casting of Mike Tyson was odd, given his criminal history and the accusations of rape and domestic violence that were made against him. I hadn't read any of the controversy, but it made me feel uneasy to watch him play a rape victim, while at the same time remembering what happened to Desiree Washington. I did a bit of reading afterwards and the producers talk about how Tyson has rehabilitated himself and his past shouldn't be held against him, but at the same time, Tyson still doesn't admit he raped Washington although he was convicted, and claims he was set up. I thought this was a pretty even discussion: http://www.salon.com/2013/02/07/law_ord ... pe_victim/ I thought it was interesting when the piece said that SVU is viewed by victims of sexual violence as "their" show - because it is about getting justice for predators and survivors, so perhaps the casting is particularly troubling in SVU where it wouldn't be elsewhere. Maybe this belongs in the Challenges My Feminism thread - I want to be able to like and support MT as an actor, but I think its weird that the producers are essentially telling survivor groups protesting to "just get over it."
