I've liked quite a lot of the recipes I made from Color Me Vegan, but I don't use it as much as I should! I think one problem for me is that many recipes are for side dishes, and I'm a one-pot-meal kind of person. So, if you make many meals that feature sides, you might want to take a second look at it. Here's the thread about it, by the way: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1171

Hmm, I think I'm gonna make the Thai coconut soup again soon!

I've always been intrigued by Vegan Sandwiches Save the Day, but I don't really eat a lot of sandwiches... I'll definitely get it sooner or later, though, because it looks so pretty!

I'll take a look at Mouthwatering Vegan when it comes out, but if it really is heavy on the subs, then it won't be the book for me. I've been meaning to cook some things from the author's website, though.

I feel the same way. I am a one-pot cooker so all sides make me feel like it is just too much work.

Btw, saw this list with a lot of new-to-me authors: http://vegnews.com/articles/page.do?pageId=5505&catId=2

VegNew's list of most anticipated books this year, there are some I didn't know about that sound good:

I might be crazy enough to be interested in a smoothie book. Does anyone know about Kathy Patalsky... like, is she crazy? If it talks about detoxing and what not, I'm not interested (although the first recipe listed on her blog is for chocolate chip cookies so that seems like a good sign)

I don't think she's crazy like that.. she is more into fat.

This is her blog: http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/

Her blog is really pretty and awesome. I don't think I've ever read anything crazy on it, and I think the smoothie book's gonna be really great. She's very creative with the beverages.

the smoothie recipe book does sound interesting, hope a vitamix is not required. although 365 recipes, wow that is a lot and a bit overwhelming.....

plus i wonder how many servings each recipe makes? 1? 2? 4? too much?? too little??

I really want the smoothie book. I'm already bored with my almond milk, banana, almond butter, he p seed, cocoa, and instant coffee smoothie. Delicious, but I could use some variety that works with the coffee.

Maybe it's fewer recipes with variations, totalling 365.

I preordered the smoothie ones.
I love her blog, I've been making a few things (DO make the cashew pot pie. so good!). her smoothies look/sound delicious as well, but she does have a juicer and uses the juicer as the basis for her juice. I bet if you were to like add water/fruit and food process then cheese cloth it, you could perhaps? get the same results?

Smoothies are supposed to be thick though, why would you juice fruit to make a smoothie?

That's cool! I'm glad they mentioned Vegan Secret Supper. Merida is a friend of a friend and her food is really good!

Oooh! Four degrees of separation! She is a friend of my friend in Vancouver. I preordered that book and Amazon keeps pushing it back. I'm excited for it.

Something like oranges or carrots maybe? I don't think the Vitamix handles either all that well. I like to use bought carrot juice as a base in green smoothies instead of soy milk.

I just received word from Amazon that my pre-ordered Vegan Secret Supper will be delivered this Thursday. Its previous estimated arrival date had been March 21. Nice!

sorry clearly i was writing that when i was about to go to bed.

say the smoothie needs ginger juice. not something you'd find in the store . she makes fresh ginger juice, (and most of her juices) to use as the base for her smoothie.

I'd have to see the recipes but when I make smoothies and add ginger, I just throw pieces of ginger into the blender but I also have a Vitamix.

I personally can't wait for the Plum Bistro cookbook. It's by far my favorite vegan restaurant.

I remember there was another vegan restaurant that had a book and it had "issues" I wonder if that will be the same with the Plum. (I do want that one. but I've got to save up now). :) I'm so thankful that my job generally orders a tonne of vegan cookbooks so I do get to see them before they get shipped out.

I bought it after I destroyed 3 different blenders in a year. I've had it since before I was vegan so 6 years? maybe 7?
