Canadians Visiting the USA - What to bring back?

So we're flying to the USA this weekend (NYC), and it's got me wondering about those interesting products and vegan treats that we can't get in Canada (Ontario) but they have in the USA.

Sometimes I come back and then I'm reminded of something I would have liked to get... and then I forget while I'm there. So I'm looking for suggestions!

When/if you travel to the States, what do you bring back with you?

If you're going to be near a Trader Joe's, they have all kinds of interesting vegan snacks! There is a thread in the kitchen where folks post about what's good, new, etc.

Also, I've noticed that some Whole Foods in the states have different things than the ones in Canada. So you may find some interesting items there! There were all kinds of different yummy kale chips the last time I was there.

Eat as many doughnuts as you can find! There are none here (mid-island).. so I always treat myself when I go! And yes to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. The selection in the States sometimes makes me feel like we live in a developing nation. So many vegan items!

I'm in Chicago right now, and so far I've got EB White Cheddar Puffs (though I've eaten about half the bag...), Justin's PB Cups and a couple of (super cheap!) Luna Bars for the trip back. I also got a huge slab of Chicago Diner cake at Whole Foods, but that will definitely not be surviving til Monday. I was hoping to find some of those huge, delicious packaged cookies whose name I can't remember, but have yet to see them.

Yes, FFL queso! I love TJ's stuff too. And Dr. Cow cheeses. They are still my favourite (bank-breaking) vegan cheese. And bagels! And please dear god please send me a proper bagel. :)

Do you ever get Solly's when you're in Vancouver? They're pretty darn good bagels and all but the cheese one are vegan.

Alternative Baking Company? (ABC) I love those. Especially their peanut butter one.

YES! I used to live a block from Solly's in Kits and always bought a dozen when they were cheap on Wednesdays. They also make good hummus.

You can get decent (not great, but passable) bagels at that place in the Hillside Mall foodcourt. Those were the only bagels I ate for two years.

And while I like both ABC and Uncle Eddy's I'm thinking of maybe a woman's name? Based in New England? Liz Lovely! Thank you, Dr Google.

I love the ABC cookies and always bring them home with me whenever I am in the US. I also have mad love for Chick-o-sticks and nutter butters, so you should definitely get your hands on some of them. The queso is worth the luggage space for sure (I brought a bunch back last time), as well as the Justin's PB cups!

Oh, where to start.

I'm blessed with living 45 minutes from the border, so I bring quite a lot of goodies back monthly. Here are a few--obviously, YMMV--Field Roast products, flavored Veganaise, Primal Strips, Justin's PB cups, plain soy/coconut yogurts (I don't like the brands we have up here), Tofutti sour cream, Tofutti cream cheese, Gimme Lean's ground sausage, soy chorizo, and Go Max Go bars.

That place just closed! Horrific, I know. You can get shitty vegan bagels from Silver Hills (who otherwise do have decent bread), but that's about it.

Liz Lovely cookies are insanely amazing.

We ended up bringing back: Crispy Coconut Strips (omg! glad you linked to the TJ's list), Speculoos (I'd never tried it before), Faux Gras, too many packs of TJ's cheesy kale chips, and Sophies vegan prawns/shrimp.

We couldn't find EB Crispy cheese puff things! I tried them at the vegetarian food festival and they're so tasty. Darn it.
I think we're going to have to visit the Wegmans in Buffalo again soon. :D

(nadia here) I found those Sophie vegan prawns or shrimp (one of the 2) at Loblaws on Queen/east of Bathurst..

I'm hoping to head over the border soon too.. Fun vegan snacks for the children especially!
