I'm looking at going up to Seattle for Vegfest in a couple weekends (http://www.vegofwa.org/vegfest/). I missed it last year, and I want to make sure it's worth the 4 hour drive! Anything in particular I should check out?

I don't know... I went once a couple years ago and it was fun and all. But I'm not sure I'd have driven four hours for it. Mainly we just wandered around and tasted stuff but didn't go to any of the talks. I'm going on Sunday this year and I would like to catch Miyoko Schinner's presentation. If any of the presentations particularly appeal to you it might make sense to come. And obviously Seattle has enough other stuff to make a trip worthwhile.

Yeah, I've gone before (but not to any presentations) and I probably wouldn't make a big effort to get to it. I kind of hate crowds, though. Maybe they'll have the new Daiya stuff for sampling? That's the only big new thing I can think of. But like mtoes said, a trip to Seattle with bonus VegFest sounds fun.

I have friends in Seattle that I can visit/stay with/drag to VegFest .. so the trip wouldn't be solely for that. I also want to see the vegan cheese talk and a few others. So I think I'll go, although I'll probably be there on Saturday. My friend has a race on Sunday, and I want her to go with me! Glad to hear it isn't a total bust :)

Wow, I'm shocked to see someone from Tri-Cities on the PPK! I'm from the area as well, but I'm moving to Seattle in 6 months.

On topic: I would prefer Vida Vegan Con in Portland, but I'm sure VegFest is fun as well. Let us know how it is if you go!

Sorry, this was a few weeks ago .. but I did go (and I drug a couple of Seattle friends out with me). I've never been to a "vegfest" before, so I didn't really know what to expect, but it was good for a few hours fun. I got a ton of free samples and got to try some things I probably wouldn't get to otherwise. So, all-in-all, glad I went!

I went again this year. I think it was a little better than last time I went or at least more vegan-friendly. I feel like I got fewer "no, sorry..." responses and more stuff to try. I was bummed that they didn't have any of the new Daiya products, though!
