Vatican: Condoms lesser evil for heterosexuals too

Well. How nice of him. Now people don't have to get AIDS before they go to hell.

But I actually am really happy about this. Maybe this will be the beginning of the end of the incredibly destructive anti-condom campaign the Vatican has been running in Africa and elsewhere.

Seriously, how messed up does an institution have to be when they make news by saying it's okay for somebody who is HIV positive to wear a condom?

Right?

Pretty messed up. Like when he was on a tour of Africa in 2009 and told people that condoms "increase the problem" of AIDS.

It's pretty sad when it's considered a step in the right direction and he isn't even sanctioning the use of condoms in general. Only if you are at risk of killing someone with AIDS. And I like how he threw the bit in there about "even if it prevents a pregnancy."

It's a step, though! Trying to think positively about this, which is hard.

Meh. It's more likely that he just thinks the condoms might prevent the spread of The Gay. I mean, all those gay babies can't come from straight parents, right? (And the pope needs more good, heterosexual, Catholic babies for his...er, flock.)

This thread isn't what I expected at ALL. I thought for sure this would be about Pope-themed condoms, like people could buy mitre hats for their weens.

It is sad that I find this good news, because really it should have been said from the start. I still hate the guy, but I'm glad he's not being a total stubborn asparagus about it.
