I'd love to have a thread where cookbook lovers post the bargains they find. Please be wary of self-published "bargains" though. No doubt there are some great self-published cookbooks out there, but there are also some that don't provide many recipes and not everyone can write a good cookbook, so only post these if they look really good. Traditional cookbooks sometimes go on sale and get heavily discounted (sometimes for a long term, and at other times, only for a day or a few days). Personally I'm more interested in the latter, but post any sale or bargain that looks good to you.

Here are some I have found:

Melisser Elliott's The Vegan Girl's Guide to Life is currently only 99 cents for the Kindle.

Kelly Peloza's The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur is also only 99 cents in Amazon's Kindle store.

Slightly more expensive, but still pretty cheap, is Put 'em Up!: A Comprehensive Home Preserving Guide for the Creative Cook, from Drying and Freezing to Canning and Pickling by Sherri Brooks Vinton -- $2.51 for the Kindle and $2.99 for the Nook.

Please post any sales or bargains that you see, as soon after you spot them as you can. With sales, time is often of the essence!

Ooh, that's a good price on Caribbean Vegan. Maybe I should purchase it in e, even though I already own it in paper.

Woah, nice! I think I'll get the kindle copy even though I have the hard copy. It's nice to have it on my phone so I can plan what to buy at the grocery store without needing to fetch the book. I wish I could do that with every cookbook!

How are you guys finding these deals? Is there some kind of amazon alert you set up?

I browse vegan cookbooks and sort by price. I have to wade through a lot of self-published ebooks though (I've been burned by a few of those). I would love to hear how Tofulish spotted the sale on The Carribbean Vegan.

I've seen a few self-published cookbooks that were actually recipes from other authors, taken from websites and just slapped together in a book. Most of them aren't even vegan to begin with.

Oh, thank you so much for this! I bought a different veggie burger cookbook a while ago, but then realized I should have bought this one instead. Now I don't have to feel as guilty for having both! :)

I don't know if it's always this way but there are a bunch of free smoothie books for the kindle, though not all of them are vegan. I'm always on the lookout for new smoothie recipes (and am too lazy to just look them up online) so I was pretty happy to see this!

This one is all vegan but some of the recipes seem a little out there (like they include cabbage, beans, etc.): Smoothie Recipes For Weight Loss: The Daily Diet, Cleanse & Green Smoothie Detox Book. It seems pretty good if you ignore the whole detox/cleanse bit.

Unrelated to veganism, I noticed The Da Vinci Code ebook for Kindle is also free right now.

Thank you for the link. I don't have a Kindle, so I flipped through it in the cloud. I didn't really consider smoothies something worth writing a cookbook about because "just blend all the fruit you have at home", but I really like some ideas in this cookbook.

A few ebooks are on sale at Kobo books right now.

I picked up The Ayurvedic Vegan Kitchen, along with a 35% off coupon (google for it), which made it ~$5 including taxes.

This is an omni book and it is self-published. But it is dairy-free and health-oriented, it has many vegan contributors, some of which are well-known, and it is free:Smart School Time Recipes

Vegan Cookie Cookbook!

US: http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Cookie-Cook ... s+cookbook

ETA: the recipes might not actually be any good (some of them don't even call for oil or margarine) but hey, it's free.

On Chapters/Indigo, The Vegan Boulangerie sells for 3,49 $. I don't know whether it works outside Canada though. It is for Kobo, but you can download the Kobo Desktop for free and then use printscreen when you whish to print a recipe.

In fact, I do the same thing with Kindle for PC. I thought I would never buy ebooks, and I still wouldn't buy an ebook reader, but I like how they allow me to search for ingredients in cookbooks (I always have leftover ingredients such as parsley or chutney I wish to use and need a recipe for) more than for portability. And I like how you can add and remove notes, bookmarks and underlining, and reach a page simply by clicking on a link.

Those are good prices! Quick Fix Vegan is one of my favorite cookbooks since I am a slow cook.

It's vegetarian, but Plenty is at $4.80 on Amazon.com and 4.99 on Amazon.ca.
