Even though I ended up spending $50+ on long-needed medication and having to cancel a meeting to do so, I am pretty proud of myself for calling dozens and dozens of low cost clinics this morning, spending the day playing phone tag and hearing 'no' again and again, but ultimately, finding an appointment (a cancellation late in the evening) for $10 vs. paying $100 at Zoomcare tomorrow for an ear infection/dizzy spells. Hoops, jumped! Bring on the end of the ear woes.

Technically yesterday but after another crappy day at work I was in pretty foul mood and I just wanted to lie under the covers and watch triple D. But I dragged myself to my dance class and got shoved up to the advanced class. Which was a bit scary but it ended up being really fun and I didn't totally suck at it. And I didn't fall over, win.

Finally organizing a recycled art making workshop with my artist bffff, and in the middle of editing the flyers, getting a call from our chief saying "Actually, that weekend we want the two of you to go to the EU organizers meeting for the NGO. Think you can reschedule?" UM. HELL YES I will reschedule in order to spend the week at an awesome castle in the middle of the German woods.

I'm the contact person for the Vegan Society in my area. Normally no one ever contacts me, but a very hestitant lady phoned me up last night. She told me that she is widowed but has met a vegan man and wanted tips on cooking for him. He has been vegan for 30 years but spent 20 years caring for his wife and never cooked and lived for 20 years off crumpets and tinned soup. She made him a cake last week and it was the first cake he had eaten in 22 years. She wanted to know what she could use instead of cream in a potato recipe she has. We talked for ages about different products and where you get them and how you use them. I am e-mailing her a list of useful sites and then she is going to come to my house next time she is visiting a friend who lives nearby to look through my cookbooks to see which ones appeal to her to buy. She was so grateful, I actually felt useful for once.

That's a delightful story, Efcliz! And how nice for that man to finally have some cake! It's really quite romantic--"We found love in a meatless place."

The 12 year old volunteered to do chores yesterday! Volunteered! She was told to clean the fish bowl and tidy her room. She scrubbed her room, the fish bowl and the kitchen.

22 years without cake? I can't even. How sweet of his new lady friend to cook vegan for him.

Congrats Mars!

My best thing yesterday was having lunch with ameyfm!

AWESOME! I like this person already, V_E.

"trailerpark gypsy" (as his email address said) came and took the engines.

I now have an empty corner in my shed and it's the best thing of my day.

Not so much the empty space but what it kind of represents:
- letting go of old goals (as meant to sell them for two years but never put up an add)
- not having money over rule what I should do (for a long time I held on to them cause they could be worth $ 100 )
- letting go of materialistic ideas (you could build something nice out of those two engines and for a while I felt an obligation to sell them so they wouldn't be scrapped as they will be now)

- making steps to let go/forget the past and make room for something else.
(in this case room for one of my two motorcycles)

Finally found a fantastic cop who is willing to step up and enforce the civil harassment order I got against the crazy who has been calling my co-workers and I non-stop. She is asking her sergeant's clearance to either arrest or 5150 (institutionalize) him. I haven't felt this light since the CHO was issued and served. We get peace and quiet, he gets the help he needs, and by the sounds of it, this cop will actually approach this mentally ill individual with compassion instead of a taser.

that's so great, Erika! That's the guy you posted about before, yeah? Super for you guys and great that he's actually gonna get actual help in hopefully a positively meant light rather than being horribly treated. And you are so awesome for thinking of him in that way, too.
