This made me laugh, and I think it's pretty spot on: If People Talked About Seinfeld like they Talk about Girls

Desdemona, that article was far more entertaining than this show has ever been.

Also q-tips are pretty much ruined for me now, so there's that.

Yeah, it officially gets on my nerves now. I watched the season finale of season 2 and it just made me want to throw the remote at the TV.

I'm with you all I think. At first, I was all "oh, this is the anti-Sex and the City, I get it." But now I just want to smack every single person on the show. Until Adam started getting all... I don't even now the word I want to use -rapey? - with his new girlfriend, I was starting to like him the best over all of the friends on the show. But now he sunk himself firmly back into ickville for me.

That said, I'll suck it up and see this season through. I keep telling myself at least I watch this while running on the treadmill, so its not quite as shame-inducing. Was there an episode last week or is tonight's the finale? Nothing recorded on my DVR last week.

And one more thing - yes, Q-tips will never be the same to me either. I now eye that Q-tip box in my bathroom closet with simultaneous fear, suspicion, and revulsion.

It was the finale here anyway, not sure about anywhere else! I used to not pay attention to it really. I would be reading things on here while it was on so I wasn't giving it my full attention. Yesterday when I was sick I watched it properly and just plain hated it. They are all plain irritating and it is pure uncomfortable to watch.

watched both seasons all in one go. At the time I couldn't get enough, because it made me feel better about myself (I had just taken a leave of absence from medical school because of stress) - as much of a mess that I felt like I was, all the characters on the show were bigger messes. After it was over, though, I liked it less - Hanna got super annoying, being so sensitive AND selfish and useless. I got to the point where she was visiting with her parents and going out with a cute pharmacist and making a joke about how she could stay...and I was all why not? You don't have a job, you're trying to be a writer - which you could do ANYWHERE! like somewhere it doesn't cost you money you don't have?! but NO, she has to live in NYC because it's fantastically better than everywhere else, and living elsewhere is for losers!

I also don't quite understand why she dresses so terribly. Onesies with no bra all the time? I totally understand onesie with no bra for days that are a million degrees out, or for sitting around in your own apartment being a slob, or for every once in a while to prove to the world that you don't give a shiitake. But all the time? Why are you making yourself look terrible on purpose? I also feel like she uses her "less-thin-than-Hollywood-norm" body in the nude scenes as a tool to generate...sympathy? Or something? It just feels like body shaming to me. Maybe I feel that way because there isn't a cool, logical, smart, successful character who is not super skinny?

I would say that I like Girls because it's more realistic and gritty than Sex And The City...but that's about it. I'll stick with New Girl for my TV fix.

I feel reviving this thread will be futile, but here goes. This show is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it's problematic as all hell and like everyone in the known universe, Hannah (and Lena Dunham herself) irk me beyond belief. But I can't tear my eyes away.

Has anyone else been watching season three?

Yes. Like last season, its a show I watch running on the treadmill to make myself feel better about it. For some reason I'm hating it much less this season even though the characters are even more caricature-y than in past seasons. Like I sort of love to hate Hannah this season instead of just hating her.

Are we supposed to hate her? I still haven't figured that out.

I started to really dislike Hannah last season but I don't as much this season. I still really like this show, even though most of the characters are really annoying!

I definitely feel like Hannah is supposed to be hated, this season. Before I wasn't sure. After the death and the funeral though, I can't see any way that Hannah is supposed to be a sympathetic character. And then when she lied to Adam with THE SAME LIE HIS SISTER USED? (How is THAT not going to blow up later???)

Could not stop laughing at this week's episode where Hannah wore her bathing suit THE ENTIRE TIME.

Everyone's clothed: Hannah in bikini. Everyone naked: Hannah in bikini.
I feel like Shoshana has become a typical critic of the show. She's a bisque and I love it.

I was shocked that Adam could act. He's just so. . . off. . . that I figured he was another I Came to the City to Act But Can't at All So There kind of dude. Broadway material? Damn. Go Adam.

Shosh is pretty much the only reason I watch this show. I loved her so much last episode.

I effing love this show and feel no reason to analyze it. Adam's sister biting Ray is pure comedy.

Dude fork Hannah's cousin.
And fork her mom during the first scene. I really felt for her the rest of the episode, but the way she talks to Hannah peas me off so much. The "if you're not evil come here now" tone is just really .. no.

Just binge watched all three seasons in a span of a few weeks. I don't know. I really liked it at first, I liked it less as the seasons went on.

I binge watched the first two seasons in one weekend a few months ago. I started out hating all the characters but by the end I really cared about them. I don't know why, I could empathise with them and their situations, though I couldn't relate to them at all. I am now umming and ahhing over paying £20 to watch the 3rd season. What do people think? Is it worth it? I got really excited about the last episode of season 2 and was cheering at my screen, so now I'm thinking I could just leave it at that.

I really enjoyed the third season and some pretty important stuff happens to Hannah. But if you don't plan on watching season 4 when it comes out then just wait until it becomes free, if you think it will be. I can't get it for free anywhere so I'm sure I'll be paying for it at some point. I managed to watch the first 3 season for free but lost my HBO hook up.

Ok you have convinced me. It is either pay to watch it or don't watch it all. You have convinced me to watch it :-)
