I live about an hour out of Boston and am planning on heading into the city and getting dinner with my omni this weekend (who is willing to go to all vegan places, but much happier when we can both eat). Not looking for a cafe but a decent place to sit down and have a nice dinner (without spending a ton, we are poor students, but deserve a nice date every now and then!)
We LOVE the elephant walk and have been going there like once a month for awhile, we need a new place.
Suggestions? We can go to any neighborhood really since we have to drive in.

I know there are past threads on this but there were lots of recommendations for closed places so I wanted to get a fresh opinion.

true bistro has a google offer going on right now. it's out in somerville. (there's also another deal for kickass cupcakes too.)

$15 for $30 worth of gourmet vegan food https://www.google.com/offers/ppo/SELF/ ... rce=social

I recently ate at this place the Five Horses Tavern in Davis Sq. in Somerville with two omnis and it was great:

They have a good number of vegan options that are clearly labelled on the menu. I had the Harvest Pie pizza and it was really delicious. Has great beer too if you're into that. This is an excellent spot for omnis and vegans to eat at together.

my favorite vegan place in Boston is Grasshopper in Allston. it's Asian vegan
http://www.grasshoppervegan.com/

we just went to Walnut Grille in Newton which is new and that was really good (see separate thread)

i havent been yet but ive only heard good things about Veggie Galaxy which i believe is both veg/vegan in Cambridge.
it's right smack next to the Middle East.
http://www.veggiegalaxy.com/

those are all pretty much veg/vegan places and not omni places with vegan options though.

The Middle East is definitely also a good place for omnis and vegans together, personally I love their food. Almost all their vegetarian stuff is vegan. It's not super fancy but a nice place to sit down and very reasonable qua prices.

Genki Ya on Harvard Ave in Allston/Brookline (it's on the line) is an organic sushi place that has some of the most interesting veg options I've seen at a sushi restaurant!

There's also My Thai in Chinatown (all vegan).

So many good recommendations here: Tru Bistro (brilliant!), the Elephant Walk (really fabulous!), Veggie Galaxy (can't stuff myself enough!)...
Another scrumptious find is Life Alive in Cambridge. Google them; drool over the menu, the get there as quickly as possible. It's a great stop-in or stop-in and sit-down place. Unlike some of the truly wacky gourmet dishes of the above mentioned spots, you can even mock up some of the Life Alive dishes at home, just to hold you over until you get there again.
Happy eating!
