I am finding activities for my students to do that will work on fine motor skills. The kids are reallllly into birds/angry birds. I found a craft on pinterest where you make a bird feeder by stringing cheerios/froot loops onto pipe cleaners, which can then be twisted into various shapes and hung from a tree. Will birds try to eat the pipe cleaner and choke or get sick? If so, any other suggestions? Thanks!

Strong wire might be better. Pipe cleaner has those weird tiny fibers. Fruit loops are way too high in sugar (which birds like!), but not good for them. Whole grain, low sugar Cheerios should be ok.

Okay thanks! Cheerios are probably better for the kids too, it's just that the Froot Loops are different colours. Maybe I'll get the multi-grain Cheerios that are different shades of brown.
