i have squished the little nobs, when it didn't occur to me to fetch the scale (most likely) or when getting it seemed like too much of a bother after i'd already started on a recipe (more likely than i ought to be willing to admit). if i know in advance that i'll be using margarine in a recipe, i try to remember to get the sticks, because they have the tablespoon marks right on the wrapper and that's easier than anything else.

Another neutral here.

Pick a side, Switzerland! And explain to me your cheese whilst on the matter.

Are people using the dry cups to measure wet ingredients?! There are cups for liquid like this:

And cups for dry like this:

Also, I weigh my margarine, no matter the recipe. Anything that will be messy to measure in cups (like marg or shortening or peanut butter, etc) I just do some quick maths based on the serving size/grams on the container and weigh it. See? I embrace both! Kitchen scales and measuring cups, live together in perfect harmony (everyone together now!)

i have four sets of your so-called dry cups, which i have amassed gradually over the past fifteen or sixteen years. i measure everything in them. everything is fine.

I used to be adamant about measuring liquid in the proper cup, but the few times i've been lazy and just used the dry cups, everything has been fine, so i've been lazy more often. of course, if i have to measure 2 cups of milk, i always use the liquid. basically whatever is easier. I'd never measure dry in a liquid cup though. that just seems extra wrong.

But she's only been here for, like, 2 months...surely it's not completely null and void yet! She's gonna be so disappointed to hear that she's no longer Scottish.

THIS is my pet peeve today:

http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-9384/i-ditched-the-vegan-label-and-i-feel-free.html

"I once labeled myself a 'vegan' and almost instantly felt a sense of purpose, community and even—dare I say—superiority over those who ate meat.

Sometimes, during a moment of weakness, I occasionally incorporate dairy back into my diet or have a piece of fish for dinner. (What can I say? I'm human.) I've noticed that anytime I mention a non-vegan indulgence to friends in the raw food or vegan community (either in a conversation or on the web) I inevitably get ridiculed or judged. On occasion, I've even been yelled at."

Ugh. I don't even know where to begin with this one.

Pet peeve...I'm the event planner, and made sure to get myself a vegan lunch - it was a meeting followed by golf, so a box lunch.

Some asshat ate it. Then complained to someone how terrible it was. I hope it gave him the runs.

I would be so stabby!

Also, testament to how strange* the PPK is - two people took time out of their lives to draw illustrations for an imaginary children's book about a nob of margarine.

*and by strange, I mean awsome

It's just a darker, more dramatic interpretation. YA, ok? Both turn into Vampires and almost kiss in the end. Man, SPOILERS.
