I finished the project from hell, and not only was it not 100% shiitake, the professor liked our presentation and one of my two group members actually pulled his weight on writing the presentation (though I did literally write ALL 1500 lines of code).

I'm in MA but understand the cause for celebration. I can't wait to move so I'm next door to a WF and TJ that sell alcohol. My current local WF/TJ don't and the nearby non-WF/TJ stores mostly don't either.

boring story even more boring, I just found out that our credit card debt is being wiped out. I cried a little when I found out.

Nebraskalaska, that's not boring at all. That is very exciting! I would cry too if I were you. Happy tears!

I went to my first farmers' market of the year today and the weather was just so perfect. I had such a good time wandering about in the sunny warm day looking at everything and buying asparagus, onions, spinach, morels, salad dressing, pecan butter, peach amaretto jam, vegan chocolate chip and sugar cookies, and some plants for my garden. Then I got a huge falafel sandwich and mint iced tea for lunch and felt that life is good.

My boyfriend and I paid our first visit to the grocery store that is nearest the house we just bought. It's a brand new store, just a mainstream grocery store, but it's HUGE. There is literally a 30-foot wall of just ice cream. Every possible brand of ice cream you could want, except NO non-dairy ice cream to be seen, and I couldn't find any tofu or soymilk either. So I was a bit annoyed and figured we probably wouldn't go there much, but then we wandered around some more and found a pretty large section of the store devoted to organic stuff, vegan stuff...they have Daiya AND FYH, they have Veganaise, they have natural cleaning and bath products and recycled paper towels, they have tons of vegan ice cream, Gardein stuff...It's pretty amazing and totally made my day. We used to have to drive at least 20 minutes to the Whole Foods to get that stuff, and now it's all like three minutes away! They sell beer in the store too (we're in PA which has idiotic liquor laws, so being able to buy beer at the same time as the groceries is cause for celebration)! I think it's a good sign that a large mainstream grocery store is carrying so much vegan/organic product. I used to consider myself lucky if I could find tofu at a store like that.

Is it the Wegman's at King of Prussia?? I just found it last week :D

Haha, the boring story part is a filter! But yeah, this is super exciting for us.

Guys! Mr Moon surprised me with an iPad Mini for my birthday. SO MUCH YAY.

It's only 6:30 in the morning but I doubt anything is going to top this.

We were considering moving to New York this fall, but my second biggest reason for not wanting to was the liquor laws. I would either have to switch teams or find a new job since there's only one one WF wine shop.

this happened yesterday, but i modeled for the first time ever for a life drawing class! it was really difficult-- not knowing what kinds of poses i would be able hold for certain amounts of time-- but everyone was super nice and appreciative and they let me look at their drawings afterward. i hope to do it again soon!

FINISHED AND SUBMITTED MY BIG SCARY RESEARCH PROPOSAL AND ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTS.
Totally capsworthy because it took me ~5 hours longer than I expected to get things together and I was about to cry with frustration. And it's probably not my best writing ever, but I think it's pretty solid and oh god I can breathe now.

I've been feeling really good in light of my most recent break up, which is strange because I feel like I should feel worse? Eh.

Just curious...what about New York's liquor laws would make it a bad deal? Do you mean NYC or NY State? As far as I know, no one has problems here getting whatever kind of booze they like.

Granted, I rarely drink anything other than the occasional beer or glass of wine.

It's a work thing. We were considering moving to NYC in the fall, probably Brooklyn. We're still moving, just not to NYC.

I've worked for Whole Foods for the last 5 years (oh, jeez), and no matter where we go, I'm relying on transferring. I've worked in the wine department for two years, and been a buyer for 6 months. In that time, I've come to realize that I really love this industry and want to make it more of a profession than just a job. So, my goal was to transfer to another wine department, preferably as a buyer. This would enable me to spend a year or so making connections with distributors, and eventually find a position with one of them once I'm ready to leave WF.

The liquor laws in New York are pretty restrictive--not as bad as some other states in the area, but much more regimented than I'm used to in Illinois. Because of this, WF is only allowed to have one location in NYC that sells wine. It's difficult, but not impossible to transfer to that store. Even if I did get in, it would likely be as a team member, which would mean a lower pay rate than what I'm making in Chicago where my cost of living is lower. My buying knowledge would transfer to pretty much any team (beer, produce, Whole Body, etc), but I'd be focusing on learning new products that I don't care about or appreciate as much.

We were planning on moving because my boyfriend's band decided to relocate out there. Though we were both all for it at first, the more we thought about it and the more we talked about it, we realized that it would not be a good move for either of us for many reasons. He actually quit the band a few weeks ago. They have since replaced him, and we wish them all the luck in the world.

Argh! Stupid laws!! We could have had another PPK'er in our midst! I really don't understand liquor laws in general. Like why liquor stores have to be closed on Sunday mornings. Well, it's our loss. :)
