I'm going to be in LA for a long weekend with my family, and I'm supposed to pick one vegan restaurant for us all to go to for dinner. Any suggestions? They're omnis, but generally pretty good about trying new things. I've been looking at Crossroads -- opinions on that one, or other ideas?

If they'll go to an all vegan place Sage is my favorite restaurant in LA.

That does look good. The lunch menu has a ton more stuff than the dinner menu, though -- do they serve the stuff from the lunch menu all day?

Shojin. Don't let anybody tell you anything different (or do because your tastes are yours and you know better, but you know)

I'm not a huge fan of the Japanese food I've tried. I'd probably want to try Shojin if I had more time, though.

I'm not sure! I think I may have only been there for lunch.

Oh my, I just went to the westside Shojin and it was marvelous. They don't even have a sign up and they've been open a couple of months apparently. Very delicious.

Am looking forward to hearing more about Crossroads.

I still love Real Food Daily and will always recommend it as omni-friendly.

I haven't been to Crossroads yet so I can't comment on it, but depending on the kind of experience you're looking for and what you're willing to spend, my favorite vegan restaurants in LA are:

Upscale and pricey (we only go there once a year because for 2 of us, we usually come out having spent close to $100 for dinner; brunch is less expensive) but delicious - Madeleine Bistro in Tarzana
Somewhat more affordable (around $60 for two people) and very good - Real Food Daily with locations in Santa Monica, West Hollywood and now Pasadena
Fast casual ($30 for 2 people) but yummy - Veggie Grill (too many locations to list them all, but you can find them on their website)

I've eaten at Sage and I liked it a lot, but for around the same cost, I like Real Food Daily even better. Shojin I'm honestly not that impressed with but the bento box and the sushi are good there.
