I'm fine with either too. I've never been to Bremen and it's been ages since I was in Hamburg, so..

Oh, I just noticed this thread. Maybe I could come too, I have never been in that part of Germany. Though, I'm not sure if I'm socially competent enough to meet people like this.

I forgot that I have a date already on the evening of the 14th... but as I live in Hamburg anyway, I will be there for the rest of the weekend no matter whether the meeting is in Bremen or Hamburg... short trip either way.

I want to go to both meetups! I'm saving what little money I have for a trip. How are Netherlands folks getting to Hamburg?

pickledtreats, from Groningen (where you are not, I know), there is a cheap bus service to Bremen. I'll check what it's called. Maybe that makes it more affordable. If it IS in Hamburg the husband and I might use carsharing to go there (depends on the weather), and then we could take you there as well (and your man?), or we could share a train ticket.

Anny, I went to a Vienna meet-up where at least 3 of the people in attendance here were and I can vouch for all of us that we are very kind and just generally awesome!

It's difficult for me to travel that distance by myself.

(4-5 hours drive) Let's be clear: no promises so far. Though it's very much likely that I'll buy another car which would enable me to invite people for a ride to hamburg. (and a set of winter tyres which would be needed to comply to German regulations) I absolutely need to get rid of my "boy-toy" and get a decent car.

Well, sounds like I should come. So it's the weekend 14.-16.1. in Hamburg?

Hi Europe!!!
I'm from Frankfurt am Main, Germany!!!! A meet up sounds wonderful. What is the date and place that has been decided or is it still in the planning phase!
Lots of trains and planes come to Frankfurt too!

Hamburg, weekend of 15 + 16 january 2011 (if I'm wrong some one will correct me) Veg_Eric wrote: Though it's very much likely that I'll buy another car which would enable me to invite people for a ride to hamburg. (and a set of winter tyres which would be needed to comply to German regulations)

I have a decent car! (with room for 3 passengers) So, Bun and Pickledtreats; do you want to ride with me? My proposal is to leave the netherlands on friday afternoon? Then we could arrive in Hamburg at like 10-11pm ?

YESSSS. You are all so awesome, I can't wait to meet you!
What do we think for hotel/hostel? Meeting place on the 15th?
p.s. this is the weekend before my plane leaves for Portland. Best week ever.

should start a meet-up thread so that people browsing the forum but not always checking this thread will know it's on? I think so!
