Paula Deen on 'dealing' with vegetarians at Thanksgiving, and other shiitake: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars ... paris.htmlNine times out of ten when a vegetarian is at the table and brings up 'unsanitary and abusive' conditions at poultry farms, you just tell them to 'shut up'. Oh, and if some vegetarian brings a 'god-awful green bean casserole' you're not obligated to eat it... 'Oh goodness no.'Poor baby...

My mother once used a "Paula Deen" recipe for a Christmas appetizer in my pregan days. It involved wrapping Stella Doro breadsticks in bacon and putting them in the oven.
And I'm sure that "god-awful" green bean casserole could be improved upon with an entire stick of butter. You know she has a freezer of the stuff in her basement.

How do people find her charming? I have more charm in my asparagus than Paula Deen has in her whole body. This interview is terrible.

Hahaha oh man that was way funnier than I thought it would be. So glad I clicked the link. Quote: I want at least one of my side dishes to be a satirical commentary on the hypocrisy of Thanksgiving. Something that reminds my guests about the slaughter and persecution of the Native Americans. I can't believe he said that to Paula deen! (or the last tango in Paris!) Awesome.

Quote: Not that I’m a vegetarian. Not at all. I think God gave us these things for our survival. He didn’t put us here and said, “O.K., eat dirt.” He surrounded us with things that we could survive on.
And the things he didn’t want us to eat, he made extra cute.
Yes, that’s exactly right. [Laughs.] That’s funny!
this interview is ridiculous....and hilarious.

That interview was hilarious.
And the vegetarian stuff wasn't that bad. It was the interviewer who was saying all the negative comments like "god-awful green bean casserole"

That interview is hilarious. I don't think there is much to be taken seriously, either from interviewer or interviewee.

I think it's a bit unfair to take Paula Deen's comments out of context. Those questions are rather tongue-in-cheek and I know that I'm not eating a nasty casserole. I think that's a Southern thing. My mom's family always wants to know who made what so they steer away from stuff made by bad cooks.

After I read the whole interview this is exactly what I thought, although you never know how the general public will take it. There's always going to be one asparagus out of there who takes her "advice" seriously or thinks this is how veg*ns really act. I'm conflicted on Paula Deen, she is charming about 3% of the time and the other 97% I wish she would just stop talking.

That article was amazing. Hilarious. Would Ms. Deen starve to death if pigs were just a little bit cuter or if the Disney pig based animated movies were a little more popular?

Pigs are significantly cuter than squirrels. She just doesn't have to look at pigs adorably eating a pecan in her yard.

haha. yeah that was funny and she didn't even really say anything bad about vegetarians. she just said if something looks gross don't eat it, but she'd put it out on the table, so that's cool. she's crazy, but i like her!

A cook on Food Network. She's from the south and likes butter. The ppk isn't fond of her.
Pretty sure that's what her wiki says.

Pretty sure that's what her wiki says. Ha, I found the energy to check the wiki and it says: "Both cookbooks were filled with traditional Southern recipes, such as "Gooey Butter Cake" (also known as Chess Cake, a variation of a chess pie recipe)". I can't help but think of a sex cake.

I guess I missed the part in Genesis where God created the Piggly Wiggly so that Adam and Eve could but bacon and butter in order to "survive." Is there a theologian in the house that can fill my god-shaped hole with the correct passage? (I'm sorry, everything about Paula Deen and her fake-ass, cornpone affect just irks the everloving crepe out of me; I can't understand how anyone can listen to her for 30 seconds at a stretch.)
