I forgot to mention that if anyone is going to give Netvibes a try, you shoul know that there's typically a delay of a few HOURS between the moment when a new item is published and when it appears in your reader! Technology, eh?

A question about feedly. I've been using it for a few weeks now with no problem. Today when I clicked on it, I have been logged out and it is insisting I have to use a google account to log in. Is feedly only accessible through google? It wants to access google info and I don't want it to do that, but it won't accept any other log in.

at this time, you have to login with a google account in order to use feedly because how else would feedly know which blogs you subscribed to in google reader without access to your google account? This is how feedly automatically imports all your blog feed for you otherwise you would have to do it manually (which is not an option, I don't think).
it's a little creepy but honestly it's no worse than downloading an app on a smartphone.

I don't want it to access all my blogs from my google reader. I already did, about a month ago, manually input the blogs I wanted into feedly. And now it seems to have disappeared and is insisting it wants to access my google account and download a bunch of shiitake I don't want. It seems to have erased everything I had saved. So much for feedly.
Also, I don't have an expensive phone. And surely no clouds.

here's my recipe. (i'm not sending my entire reader to my e-mail, so that's why it's only by selected categories.)

two new readers are coming out next week from aol and digg

aol - http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/06/2 ... one-place/
digg - http://digg.com/reader

i wish these readers will come out already because i just noticed that feedly let you export should you decide to move to a different service. it locks you in so that's a big thumbs down.

Feedly keeps crashing on my phone and I don't trust its unread post count.

me too, feedly is making me hella nervous. i either end up with zero items or 684, and neither is correct. ugh.

i'm aaaaalmost to the point where i'm going to pay for feedbin, because i know it works with reeder (my beloved app) and it gets great reviews online.

It's been glitchy for me since they switched to the Cloud. I miss Google Reader already. :(

I found on their blog that the update solving it has been sent to apple but is awaiting approval. In the meantime they suggest you use another app like reeder to access feedly (if on iPhone). I actually quite like reeder I think.

When feedly switched to cloud, the iPad app prompted me to transfer my content from Google Reader (again. I originally did it on my laptop) and now my starred items (now "saved for later") are erased in the app. Luckily they're still there in the browser version, but I read a few stories of people transferring their content in the app instead of a browser and losing all their bookmarks. FYI.

I might delete and reinstall the app and see if they recover.

I forgot to transfer my feeds to a new reader.

Oops. Time to start all over again.

I think you can export your data until July 15th or so.

I keep accidentally going to Google Reader instead of Feedly and the placeholder screen makes me so sad.

I'm annoyed right now. I tried signing up for NewsBlur which is apparently free under under 64 sites but when I tried to create an account it wouldn't let me go any further without paying. I keep getting, "There are 78 people in front of you (and 11 people behind you), all patiently waiting on their free accounts on NewsBlur. By going premium you can get full and immediate access to NewsBlur." Am I missing something about signing up?

So I tried signing up for Feedly. When I click "log in" which I assume is how you make an account? I get an error code.

I forgot to sign up for Feedly and now I did nothing imported from Google Reader. Oh well, I guess I just need to find blogs again. I didn't keep up with it anyway so I can't really complain.

I haaaaate Feedly. So. forking. Much.

It's imported all of the main blogs I follow (the non mofo stuff basically) and put them under "uncategorised" and there's no way to edit or re-name an uncategorised list which means that I also can't make it show up in the app. It's also imported a whole load of blogs (into the "uncategorised" list) that I deleted ages ago and not taken across any that I've followed within the last 6 months or so. Basically it's useless on every level!

Thankfully I knew something stupid would happen and I made a list of all of the blogs I follow on my computer before switching but now I'm going to have to find a new reader and start importing blogs from scratch individually. Uch.

Did anyone find a good reader that they don't hate? It needs to be free and have an iphone app and if possible I'd like it to look pretty... I'm thinking Bloglovin? I can't stand the Feedly layout but then again Google Reader was never that attractive and I'd put up with ugly if it forking worked!

I'm using the cloud version on my iPad with no problems at all, my favorites transferred across and so did my categories. I think it looks great too. I don't think Bloglovin has an app or if it does I didn't like it and deleted it.

Has anyone tried out Digg Reader, AOL Reader or NewsBlur yet? I want to try one of those but I'm not sure which one would be the best choice. I don't want to use Feedly since I can't use it at work and I've noticed it misses a lot of new posts.

For me, Feedly seems to have pulled itself together. There was a long period when it was making me log in every time and then being down anyway... but now all is groovy. I assume they got a bazillion new users and couldn't keep up. Now it works consistently in browser and app, and is prettier than reader to boot.
