yeah, my brother's girlfriend (who has kids), has said a few times to me "your pets are really like your kids, aren't they????" Uh. no. I know the difference and I don't buy baby outfits for my pets. I just love them a whole lot.

This! And, I don't know what it's like to have children... So how would I know if my pets are like my children?

On the earlier topic of hot men with babies, it really works for me. I think it is for the same reason I really like hot men with animals. I already find them physically attractive, but then I have evidence that they are kind and gentle to tiny beings, which makes for a pretty damn attractive personality.

Absolutely! My bf has a sister who is I think 9, but he's so sweet with her. Before he deployed to Afghanistan he called her and she wanted him to read her a bed time story. So he read her Dune and was really patient about her questions XD But yeah I think its really a "you're so kind and sensitive and patient!" sort of thing, still don't have any impulse to have babies

I think it's a good list. With the possible exception of the child-friendly party question though, the list is really about not being an insensitive clod. I'd like to think that most parents don't lose their ability to be sensitive to other people's feelings when they procreate.

This annoys me. So how do people with pets AND children cope? Don't they love their pets
anymore?!

If you put Snoopy in baby outfits, it would kind of make my life. I'm just saying. Snoopy in a bonnet: that would be a cute-splosion.

I am getting married this weekend and dreading all of the "when are you going to make babies?!" comments. Most of my family knows better but my guy's family will surely make me want to take a fork to my eye.

No, no, no, that's not how babies are made. The fork goes somewhere else.

I just got married last month and my husband's dad has dropped comments about wanting children twice already. I'm like 75% in the no kids camp (and 90% in the no biological kids camp).

My husband is afraid of children and really doesn't like them much, so I thought we were pretty much on the same page. But then somehow we were talking about our birth weights and he commented that it would mean that we would have large babies and too bad for me. I tried to joke it off, and then he came up to me and said he would "fill me with babies." I dropped what I was holding and screamed (really, I did) in horror/being grossed out. Thankfully he apologized and he acknowledged that he really is scared of kids and probably doesn't want any. But jeez.

I'm slightly nervous that is going to come back to bite me in the asparagus later. I'm almost 30 and admittedly not 100% sure of my decision, but I definitely don't want anyone else pressuring me one way or another. Being pregnant and caring for an infant does not appeal to me at all.

The commissioner who married me (in late March!) was conducting a wedding ceremony at my workplace the other day and she was like "oh, you're not pregnant yet," and seemed so disappointed. I told her I was thinking we probably don't have any kid plans on the horizon and she seemed so disappointed. I also told her I have a cat and a husband and that's enough for now, and still she left saying "send me those baby pictures when you get them!". It was just silly because at our wedding she was so "you guys are so alternative and I love it!" because we only wanted like a five minute ceremony and axed (most of) the religious stuff my parents wanted to include.

I respect mothers so much, but even at 31, I can't even imagine being pregnant. It's definitely fear--and at times in my life I've had to do tons of shiitake that inspire fear, but I'm just so scared, and finally not really that interested. I blame We Need to Talk About Kevin (the book, which is far more harrowing than the film).

"I'm going to fill you with babies" is certainly more of some sort of threat than a romantic or sexy come-on.

that's totally something a wasp would say. is your husband a wasp? like a giant, alien wasp using a human body as a puppet/cloak?
