Yeah, that was surprising. Especially because she is afraid of so many other things (omg a fire hydrant, I'm going to die!!!). But in the water, she's just like "Huh, I'm floating. This is weird. Okay, whatever." I don't know. She's a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

You are such a good mom. Seriously, swimming with her, helping her float... and everything else you do all the time!

Look at how much better she did this time! (I don't know why my mother always holds the camera like she's caught in a wind storm.)

She swam to shore all by herself, twice! Her back legs were still sticking out at first, so I had to kind of arrange them for her, but once she started swimming, she just kept going! And then when she got to shore the second time, she was so excited that she was running in circles and leaping in the air. Unfortunately, the usually deserted stretch of beach we used was occupied today, so we had to do all of this in front of a very bemused English family. My mom tried to explain how we were teaching Tegan to swim, but I think she just gave them further confirmation that we were completely off our rockers.

They were very nice, but the whole dog+life jacket+swimming lesson obviously seemed completely bizarre to them. I'm sure they'll be telling their friends about the weird people who were trying to teach a dog how to swim!
