Vegan Mofo is just around the corner! I have a whole bunch of theme ideas clunking around in my head but haven't been able to pick one yet...although I'm leaning towards something beer related.
What theme ideas are you thinking about going with this Mofo? Talk about it here!

I'm leaning towards a day-of-the-week theme again, because it was a lot of manageable fun last year, but I'll be changing it mid-month to a daily eats/photo-blogging style since I'll be traveling.
I also really like the (new to me) concept of Cookbook Glimpses with making recipes out of cookbooks I'm not cooking nearly enough out of, both old and new. I'll likely return to daily themes of food memories, meals cooked by my girlfriend and mixology.

I've been doing "cheap vegan" stuff anyway, where I only spend 100 euros on food. I will want to just post cheap meals, I think. I was meaning to post what I make with the food I buy anyway but I havent gotten around to it.

I can't make up my mind between a few ideas. I was thinking of doing one of these:

- Food Network Takeover - I'll just spend the month veganizing FN recipes
- A month of potluck recipes (salads, casseroles, pasta, appetizers, basically anything potluck worthy)
- Vegan Dinner Party - The first week would be appetizers/drinks, 2nd soups/salads, 3rd mains, 4th desserts
- Revamped Classics - Just take old school classic recipes and veganize them
- A month of Brown Bag Lunches

I decided to pass on the beer idea.

I am not sure yet if I can make September. I already started preparing. My planned theme is"Classic German Desserts from A to Z. Veganised." Stuff like Bee Sting Cake, Donauwelle, Black Forest Cake. It's not so easy to find stuff for every letter, so I am including Austrian and Czech desserts that are popular in Germany.

I might do a cheap meals/budget theme as well since I'm trying to save money. I might be able to combine that with a cookbook challenge-type thing - cooking at least one new recipe per week from Cookin' Crunk and/or the Ms Cupcake book and then reviewing the book(s) near the end of the month.

I so want to do this, but I don't even have a blog or anything. I could easily do budget though, I already cost most of the meals I make.

I wanted to do meals inspired by TV shows, but I'm probably going to narrow the focus to Mad Men MoFo since it's going to require extra research and props. And it might be too random if I choose a few different shows. I'm thinking of shooting everything in the style of 60s ads and incorporating design. Excited!

Mine is boring to most people - Heart Healthy Meals, in honor of my husband's recent quadruple by-pass (No, he wasn't 100% vegan but is NOW). This will include recipes from: Dr. McDougall's The McDougall Program for A Healthy Heart, Dr. Fuhrman's Cholesterol Protection for Life, Dr. Esselstyn's Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, Dr. Pinckney's Healthy Heart Handbook, and Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease. Too bad Dr. Fuhrman's new heart book isn't coming out until 2014.

I changed my mind. Going to do layers, with a different type of food each day of the week. Monday a breakfast, Tuesday a sandwich, Wednesday a wildcard, Thursday a casserole, Friday a dessert. Layers are so versatile and I'm excited! I have almost everything outlined already.

Mo had the idea of $1 store meals after we talked about recent finds. I would do that but I am not finding much besides candy lately.

I am thinking meals from Target finds, 30 minute or less comfort food favorites, try a new recipe from a cookbook (I really need to use some of my collection more) and WWGD (what would guy (from food net work) do!)....Just ideas!

I thought about doing TV Tuesdays before but it seems like it would require a lot more tv re-watching than I can handle.

I'm excited for Mad Men MoFo! Last year I did an all Buffy/Whedon MoFo, and I was considering doing that again because I still have a ton of ideas. But I really love the idea of doing a general TV theme, and I could still work in some Buffy as well. Of course, this is all assuming that I even get my shiitake together in time to do it at all.

So many good ideas!

I'm going to do Mo-Fo for the first time! My theme is Old New World; I'll be focusing on pre-colonial recipes in the Americas. They're foodways I'm not really familiar with so I'm excited to learn a bunch.

At the very least, this sounds like it'll look amazing. I'm looking forward to see what you do!

I'm doing ice cream. EVERY DAY. I've made a few but I have a feeling my freezer is going to be packed solid by the end of September. My husband is an ice cream fiend so we'll see if he can keep up.

this is fascinating! looking forward to it.

i'm going to cook recipes from sarah kramer's cookbooks all month. i figure they are the cookbooks which brought veganism to my attention, so why not go back and give them some love and appreciation.

This is my first year doing Vegan Mofo and my theme will be food based in my favorite books. Like Sabriel, Abarat, Dragonlance, etc. Mostly fantasy stuff, which usually involves a lot of meat, so hopefully I'll get quite a few new recipes by veganizing items.

All of these sound so good! I stopped blogging in January and haven't picked back up, so I'm excited that Mofo is here, to help jumpstart me again. I think I'll be blogging with the theme of Fall's Bounty, and recipes that focus on stuff that's ripe in the garden where I intern. Recipes for quick pickles, and any dishes I make at lunch for the volunteers that go over well with them.
