Add me to the list of people that said Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Puffs. I tried them for the first time yesterday. They are amazing. I used to watch in envy when my family would eat that Pirate Booty stuff. Now I have my own evil treat :)

There's a recipe for smoked cherry wood chip infused oil in Vegan Supper Club that I haven't made, but should totally be on this list, I bet.

I don't know if I really missed the boat with this and like everyone has one, but I just got this garlic smusher thing, which kind of looks like something else, but really is just for garlic.

Image

You put the whole cloves in, twist it around a bit and you have minced garlic. If, like me, you use tonnes of garlic in everything, it's a huge time saver.

I think you might mean a Slap Chop, but I stared at this picture for a good 30 seconds trying to see, I don't know, a penis or something in it.

And (pointed out in another thread) you can buy directly from their website - $10 will get you 5 5-oz bags. They also have variety packs.

This is days late and I'll be the crasshole who says what it looks like but it looks like ones of those things they use to cut up pot. Which is totally what I thought that picture was until I read the text.

I'm in love with homemade Miso soup right now. I know that isn't anything new, either. Actually, I'm just in love with cooking. I've been eating vegan for almost 3 weeks and I'm just really loving being able to explore a variety of foods! Also, I made an Indian saute of Okra the other night that was just beautiful. My husband and I devoured it. I thought Okra was something you had to either deep fry or cook into a slimy stew. I had no idea you could do a kind of dry saute and get a crispy/chewy delightful end product. Sooooo tasty!

Hah. Sorry to leave you hanging. I only just saw these posts. But, yes.... Mr. Shankly is correct, that's what it reminded me of. I like to think there's some very rich stoner out there, putting the garlic smusher he invented to more illegal use.

i forget how i got there, but i happened upon this page, which mentions Yotam Ottolenghi's method of sauteing soaked chickpeas in baking soda before cooking to achieve super-smooth hummus. i haven't tried it yet, but i'll report back when i get around to it.

You know what else? The blue diamond coffee flavored almonds, and the strawberry flavored almonds. Sooo good. I mixed them together in a tin and eat them together. Awesome. There's other flavors, such as caramel macchiato and raspberry that I haven't tried yet.

Coffee flavored almonds exist?!?! That's amazing. I need to find them!

I contacted Blue Diamond - they said the new coffee ones are not vegan. :/

I have been using my hand held GEFU spiral slicer a lot lately for zucchini pasta. I love it!

Huh? That's disappointing. Do you know what's in them that's not vegan, because I thought I had read the ingredients pretty thoroughly. Now I'm going to have to pick through my mixed-up tin until I pick out all the coffee ones.

they did not say, it could be the sugar or natural flavors.

Hmm. Thanks for contacting them and finding out. It's a major bummer, but at least now we know.

I know everyone else figured this out in the 70's, but holy cow. I have just learned that soaked cashews -> creamy wonderfulness.
Life. Changed.
