I know this might not seem like it deserves its own thread but I've had a lot of Reuben sandwiches in this town and I have not been impressed. The best so far has been Paradox Cafe's but I know there has to be better. Please inform me of your favorite sandwich in this whole town. I love this place so forking much but the sandwiches aren't doing it for me. Not a deal breaker but I'm way too sick with a cold right now to get off my asparagus and make my own.

I don't think it's what you are looking for, but I am partial to the seitan reuben at Native Foods! I'll be watching this thread.

I'm not a reuben gal, but I think I've heard the Alleyway's is good? (Or, I'm confusing something....). Also, this came up... http://www.threebyportland.com/2013/02/ ... h-reubens/

Proper Eats in St. John's! I almost always get the biscuits and gravy, though.

Absolutely! Proper Eats is one of the best veg restaurants in Portland!

Where, in Portland and/or elsewhere, have you found the best vegan reubens so far? As a related aside, reubens seem to be the most universal vegan sandwich in my experience. I wonder why this is?

OK. My analysis has begun. First, the Proper Eats is right by my house. Second, I hate their Reuben. It has an entire slab of tempeh just on it, unsliced, and onions. No no no. I've never had a meat reuben so fork those sandwiches. This is about proper vegan reubens, not comparing to dead animal sandwiches. I have had the PE reuben like six times (seriously) and I still hate it but I love reubens. conflict.

Yes, I saw you too, JP. I didn't know if I should say hi! I am a nerd.

Third, the reuben at Paradox was so forgetable. Vita, too. Still better than PE, in my opinion. I do love PE for all else including booze, though.

I will be going to A.N.D. asap to see about their reuben. it sounds amazing.

If they have it anywhere, I order it. More "analysis" to come.

Also, I make a great reuben. Just saying. If you want to be my friend or something.

Done and done, you are now my friend.

I shall venture to the Red & Black quickly to try theirs. I haven't been there for some reason...

I make my own seitan pastrami from scratch for my reubens. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21319&p=740786#p740786

Continued adventures in tempeh ruebens.

Went to Hungry Tiger Too last night. Pretty tasty reuben but it was so salty. The bread was proper marbled Rye. The service wasn't so great but damn that was a strong drink. Will eat again but will not go out of my way.

Hitting HTT today, and will probably get the reuben based solely on this thread.

Then, I'll probably hit Sweetpea to carb up for a huge bike ride tomorrow.

That is all.
