So I'm visiting DC and I'm going to Sticky Fingers tomorrow. What should I get? Is there anything you've loved/hated/thought it was okay but could have made it as good or better at home?

The TLT at Sticky Fingers was really good, but my favorite were the Cowvin Cookies. It is sort of like an Oatmeal Creme Pie....SO good!

Ooh I'm going to DC next weekend so I will keep an eye on this thread. Last time I was there I got a grilled cheese to go and it was still excellent when I ate it hours later on the bus home.

Get the Tuna Melt, anyone else in this thread that says otherwise doesn't count. Ask nummers, I told her to get that and it was so good she forgot table manners.

I was going to rave about the tuna melt, GoBS (love the new name!!!) beat me to it. Best sandwich I've ever eaten. Ever. Their coffee is also damn good, and strong. I was less impressed with their baked goods. P.S. Get the tuna melt.

I had (and loved) a grilled cheese with tempeh bacon. I also tried a bbq seitan sandwich of some sort which I was less than impressed with.

I went!!! And I had the tuna melt. Nummers, you might be right when you said best sandwich ever. It was so delicious! My husband and I usually get 2 different things and share so we have more variety but we both decided on the tuna melt and were glad we did because we probably would have fought over it if we hadn't.
I've never been a fan of scones so I couldn't bring myself to try one. Sadly, they didn't have the oatmeal creme sandwiches so after a ridiculously long deliberation, I chose the red velvet cupcake since that's not something I make at home. It was good but it didn't WOW me.
It was kind of packed in there and the only empty seats were at the bar. One girl was taking up 3 stools (with her backpack & books) and the guy next to her was taking up 2 stools. We asked them if they would mind moving over to make room for us. The girl was friendly about it but the guy was totally grumpy an acted like we really put him out. He was wearing a vegan hoodie and he kinda burst my all vegan are awesome bubble. Yeah, I know that's a little ridiculous because I've met vegan jerks online but never in person.

I always get a Cowvin.
I thought the cupcakes were pretty blah, but I've only had a bite here and there because they are not something I would ever order. Because I do not like cupcakes.

Umm... I like the cupcakes. Mainly, the carrot one.
I also like the little devil.
I think the only actually food I've had was barbecue seitan. It was ok, I've had better.

I get so excited when I'm at a place with vegan sweets but 9 times out of 10 I'm let down. I don't think I'm that great of a baker but my husband always says that my cupcakes (or whatever it is we're having) is better. And, honestly, I kind of agree (it helps that I have some kick-ass cookbooks that help me to accomplish this). I want to have a treat that really knocks my socks off and I've yet to find that. P.S. Sorry for the multiple posts. I'm on my phone & it's way too difficult to multi-quote using this thing.

The baked sweets at Back to Eden bakery (in Portland) consistently knock my socks off, also many things at Sweetpea Bakery (also in Portland) -- otherwise I agree that I like my homemade sweets better.
