My boyfriend's dad and stepmom, who are not skilled in the kitchen, bought my Thanksgiving dinner from Whole Foods. They kept telling me that there was a "Tofu Turkey" in it, which made me think it was tofurky. I didn't think twice about this until I noticed that my ??? didn't have any stuffing in it, like Tofurky or most of the other things on the market.



The 'turkey' in question is the big hunk in the back. I have no idea what it is, and I really want to know so I can have it again.

It looks like a seitan roast. Check with the Whole Foods they went to and see if it came from their Deli case or if it is a packaged product. Probably the former.

In retrospect, it probably was a seitan roast. I'm not going to be back in that area anytime soon, so there's no point in me calling about it. At least I know not to waste any more time looking up fake turkeys to figure out what it was.

My store sells the Field Roast roast, but I've heard that other regions sell a Gardein roast. You're in a different region, so it's possible. You can place a holiday order online, though. Type in their zipcode here, and you can look up the options.
